Call me crazy, but I don't understand the idea of rooting for other SEC teams to win the NC. The SEC's dominance and reputation is firmly planted...it's the best conference, everyone knows that.

I'm an LSU fan, not an SEC fan, in fact, I hate every other school. For example, Auburn winning the NC doesn't do a god damn thing to help LSU. It actually hurts LSU in recruiting, national attention, and possibly hiring coaches.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but rooting for other SEC teams in bowl games, especially the NC is retarded, IMO.

Well, when their is a perception of which conference is best put into ranking teams and polls, appearance helps A LOT. WHen you're LSU and have hopes of a NC every year, any little bit helps. Coming from the strongest conference in the country helps too.

That's dumb. I root for all the SEC teams in bowl games (unless they're playing Ohio State or Florida State). Each SEC team is representing the conference, and their success reflects well on every other SEC team. If they sucked, the best team in the SEC would just look like Boise.

Someone is a little cranky-pants this morning.

These quotes seem slightly immature to me.

Isn't all the bowl money split between the SEC team? I think this is how it's done. If so, I gladly keep rooting for other SEC team.

Oh, and the reason the SEC is considered the best conference is because the SEC continually wins the trophy and donkey stomp teams along the way.

How can you not get it? You want to be the best of the best. The stronger the SEC the more power we have in recruiting and getting public opinion polls.

How can you not get this?

If Auburn plays in it then it will be the first time I do not pull for and SEC team in the championship.

You are crazy if you don't understand why people root for other SEC teams. The stronger the SEC is the better for everyone.

i like the SEC winning bowl games against every other conference because it legitimizes our conference.

Look at Ohio State... they win every year and then get blown out by an SEC team.

It allows us to have a true argument that we are the best conference.

If Tennessee is good, I understand wanting a team in conference to put on a good showing because it in turn makes Tennessee and their accomplishments seem a little bit better. However, since we suck, I really don't care if our conference looks that strong or not. And I'd never root for Bama to win a national title anyways. Generally, if I don't hate/like a certain team in the title game, I'll root for which coach I like/respect more.

I used to root strongly for whoever plays OSU. Now I'm a student there (still like Tennessee more, and it's not really close), so I root for them unless they find themselves playing Tennessee.

I love the SEC and agree. However there is no way I want a bunch of cheating thugs winning the title. If it were just they POS QB taking money I may even pull for them but screw that team.

It was hard for me to pull for Alabama in the NC. I really hate that fanbase and CNS. But I did anyway, because its the SEC, and Texas/Big 12 don't deserve any national respect.

I will have no difficulty rooting for Auburn. I hope they win it all, Camgate or not.

The only year they really dominated until playing an SEC team and getting dominated was 2006, and despite the fact they get a ton of crap for that, that team was much better than they looked that day. The 2007 squad wasn't very good, and I think most of the fans were aware of that.

We could be playing in the AFC North, but if we suck, we still suck.

Figured I'd be in the minority

And it's not that I want LSU to be the only bowl eligible team...I don't want that to happen and it's not even remotely realistic.

That's why I guess I can justify always rooting against SEC teams...I want Bama to go 0-12 every year, but clearly they won't. If Auburn makes the NC, I want them to lose 70-0...but they won't.

I don't think so. It strengthens the SEC image of playing the best football. Recruits for the most part decided what school they want to play for.....you have some that will always go out of state just because they always wanted to and some that will stay with the in state school. When being recruited by bama, LSU, Florida etc it comes down to how much the recruits bond with the coachs recruiting them and how much they like the institution.....besides cam going to Auburn over MSU most kids choose their favorite school IMO. I always root for the SEC partly b/c the media who does give the SEC props is so desperate for us to be dethroned from the top. Then hearing Big 10, Pac 10 fans try to say we play easy OOC schedules etc just adds fuel to the hatred for other conferences. It is always good to have the sbest conference.
