on Thursday in Auburn.

per Finebaum tweet...
quote:

Source confirms to AuburnSports.com that the NCAA met with Cecil Newton, his wife and Cam Newton Thursday in Auburn.

I looked at Auburn sports home page and all they have is the article about the Atlanta report.

Interestingly it looks like all the "no comments" resulted from this meeting. I'd be really surprised if Cam played given that they did meet with Cam and his family. They had to be told what exactly was at stake.

Sounds like they are all trying to get their story straight. I think Cecil is going to just say frick it and tell the truth that Auburn paid him. It's not a criminal act, he can't go to jail for accepting money I dont think.

Cecil may want Cam to get benched so there is no chance that he will get injured. Cecil is seeing the big dollar signs t this point and Auburn is now irrelevant to him and his family.

Whe you lay down with dogs you get fleas. This family appears to have no character. Cecils past is consistent with his sons behavior. It takes a thief to raise a thief I guess.

They only met with the NCAA to turn over what they have on MSU. They won't get away with their shakedown attempt.

More significant would have been a meeting with Auburn's administration. The meeting with the Newton's went something like this:

NCAA: So Cecil, you admit to soliciting on your son's behalf?

Cecil: Yes sir, but Cam didn't know anything about the solicitation.

NCAA: Sorry Mr. Newton, you are clearly an agent of your son and were representing him with you made the solicitation. This in of itself was a violation of NCAA rules. As such your son, might be rule ineligible after we meet and discuss the consequences.
