The FBI would be involved for jurisdictional and ethical misconduct, not simply because "money" could be involved.
Remember, one of the possible participants is already under investigation through the NFL. One could assume that this investigation has a much broader scope.
Personally, I like the idea of FBI involvment. If Auburn participated in this scheme, let it rain. If confidential information was given to the media about a students grades or if false allegations are being made to slander a young man, NCAA violations are not enough.
I hope I would feel the same way about a player on any other team.
Don't let me interrupt the immature accusations...

If you don't think that a subpoena ad testificandum or a subpoena duces tecum can be issued in this matter

I've heard absolutely none of you Ranters say what, if anything, you have to say if Auburn is innocent. Crickets.
I already said in this thread that if the FBI finds nothing, I will admit Auburn is innocent.

This is bad news for Auburn. The FBI brings subpoena power which means ALL financial records, not just the ones the Newtons felt like giving the NCAA.
Of course, if there is nothing there, then they will find nothing, but now things will be viewed with a microscope not binoculars from twenty miles away.
100% this
And no matter what the final outcome is, this is funny

I'm not 100% sure that Cam is guilty of anything. but I do have to agree that the FBI getting involved isn't a good thing for Auburn, these guys don't get into matters such as these unless they have some evidence they can use that keeps them from getting embarrassed, as has been said. I actually hope that nothing comes of this, but I don't have a very good feeling that's going to be the case.

Well, they are doing what we all probably would do if it were our player.

FBI = not good.
How the hell can you possibly paint a sunny picture out of the fact that the federal government is investigating the circumstances around a current player of your team?

FBI = thorough investigation, you fricking morons. If something is indeed happening, the FBI will find it. It doesn't make Auburn or Cam any less innocent or guilty now that the FBI is involved. You people are fricking nuts.
