On this board last month a few posters were saying Nashville is a melting pot of SEC fans, while Tennessee fans were certain it was UT country.

I don't live in Nashville, but I was there this past week end and did a little experiment.

I keep a tally of any college sports memorabilia (that people were wearing) I saw on my trip. Hats, decals, shirts... etc.

Here are the results.

West Virginia 1
Florida 1
Vandy 1
Alabama 1
North Carolina 1
Ohio State 1
Virginia Tech 1
Wyoming 1
Oregon 1
Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) 2
Ole Miss 1
Auburn 3
Georgia 2
Kentucky 1
University of Tennessee 17

There also was a lot of Titans gear, but I didn't keep count of it.

Conclusion... Nashville is Volunteer country.

I'll be heading to Florida soon, I'll do the same there.

You want a melting pot, go to ATL. There will be 3 to 1 UGA to everyone else but you will see all SEC and ACC and many other teams represented.

I would say that there are more UT fans here than other SEC schools, but there are a ton of Bama/Kentucky fans here. In my work it is rare to meet someone who is born and raised in Nashville. Most people come here from other places.

The players there have seemed to favor Bama for a while.

I'm from Nashville, born and raised. I always see tons of MTSU and Vandy gear and even a good amount of TSU stuff depending on the part of town. Of course UT is the majority sighting. Here in NY I was at lunch today and saw a UF hat. I didn't say hi

I know couple of girls at Auburn from Nashville... literally some of the hottest girls I've ever met.

Maybe I need to move there when I graduate?

YES. I haven't lived in Nashville my whole life, but i've noticed that the ratio of hot girls here is just off the charts. Even by Southern standards.

I dunno if its the country stars and wanna be country stars mating and producing the hot chicks or what, but its noticeable. I'm never moving.

It seems to me - a Nashville resident - that it's about:
25% UT
20% Bama
15% Auburn
10% UGA
10% Vandy
5% MS State
5% Ole Miss
10% Random (VT, UK, TX, etc)

I didn't realize it, but I guess TN has a better job market than AL or MS...that could explain it.

I lived in Nashville for a summer. My mom lived there for 14 years. My brother went to school up there.

Outside of Bham (obvious) its the largest contingent of Bama fans.

The Titans split up some of the UT faithful. Vandy recent success (little I know) added to the hate of UT.

There are a lot of Bama fans up there. Nashville is closer Huntsville than Knoxville. It would take me about 2 1/2 hours to drive from Bham to Brentwood. It takes a little under 3 hours from Knoxville to Nashville.

There is state pride there of course, but like some were saying on here it's a melting pot. Outside of Atlanta it has to be the 2nd biggest city to hire SEC graduates.
