Question for LSU Fans only

Ok, this is not a flame, just an observation. If LSU were to lose to Bama next year, would that cost Les Miles his job? That was the argument my brother and I were having. A coworker of his is from New Orleans and goes to all the LSU games. He told my brother that if LSU didn't beat Bama and Nick Saban, he would get fired. He didn't graduate from LSU, he's just Joe Q. Fan. I know you guys can't wait to get after Bama after the no-call last year, but it seems to me that the majority of you guys are over Nick Saban and just want to win championships. I didn't see Les Miles future being based on one game. LSU is my second favorite team after Bama, and if we don't go to the SEC championship, I would pull for LSU to go. Sorry this is so long, but I just wanted to pose the question. Thanks guys.

11-1 with the only loss being to Bama? negative
but 5-7 including a loss to Bama would do it.

This will be why they fire Miles. I don't think it will be next year, but he's gonna have to beat Bama to get to Atlanta. And if he doesn't do it in 10, I think he's got one more year at best.

I don't see you guys going 5 & 7. Looking at your schedule you go to Florida, AU and Arkansas. I don't know how good West Virginia will be. It's hard to predict because no one knows what to expect from any team, not this early, but no, I don't see 5 and 7.

5-7 and Miles is gone. 8-4 including a loss to Bama will keep the heat real high on him, but with his buyout, he may get one more year. If he goes 10-2 with a Bama loss, I think most fans would say that was a good job.

What does it take to warm his seat up? I can honestly see him getting in a situation like McClendon- lot of good seasons but not quite able to hit the pinnacle.

The contingent that aren't over Saban, is it negative (hating him) or positive (would take him back). I know a lot of folks on here would rather not have any posts about him, and I'm sorry that I'm doing it, but I just don't see LSU fans being fixated on one particular game, yea beating Bama would get you to Atlanta, but there are other games to play as well. I guess I'm of the school of taking one game at a time.

this is a good take on the situation. an 8-4 record with a loss to Bama would heat his seat up to where he would have to win at least win the West in 2011 to keep his job.
with our prospective 2011 recruiting class, it's going to take a really shitty season for Miles to be canned after this year. now, him accepting an open position at Michigan is a different story.

If the offense is mediocre this fall, then Les Miles will be in trouble.

I know Saban is a touchy subject on the board, so I'm sorry about bringing him up. I was just curious. Like I said, LSU is my second favorite team, so I wish you guys well ---- until you play Bama!!! :)

Michigan may be available since the NCAA is investigating there and now at West Virginia!!

Yeah, Rich's future in major college football is starting to look bleak. But would Michigan take Les Miles right now? I gotta think, on the heels of two 'meh' seasons that they would be looking for a hotter name- maybe someone like Gary Patterson, or that Boise coach.

i lurk on a couple of Michigan boards. the majority of things i've seen points to Harbaugh and Miles being the fans' top two choices.

I'm just so glad that he is not at Bama!

Yup, he can't keep track of timeouts but he sure knows how to cover his arse in the workplace.

Harbaugh surprises me a little cause didn't he call out their academics a while back (fwiw he's definitely a hot name, he just seems to me like he's gunning for a pro job- but who knows). Miles still? I would have thought the last two years would have taken some of the luster off it for them.

I would have thought Chris Peterson (Boise State) would have been a choice.

they're still so caught up on getting a "Michigan man." especially now that their Rich ROd experiment of going outside their norm isn't working out very well.
