Which would you prefer for your school?

I'd take 1st round of Big Dance and lose over winning the NIT.

If you go to the NIT, you weren't good enough for the dance, so the answer is obvious

I would rather lose 100 to 0 in the play in game of the NCAA tournament than win the NIT

Like Garth Brooks says, it's never good to miss "the dance"

I wouldn't go that far, but definitely NCAAs. I think a better question would be first round of NCAA but I'd still rather make the NCAA tourney than go NIT.

Go to the Big Dance! Don't know if we'll make it, but we're better than last year.

I agree. The NIT is comparable to the NFL pro-bowl.

I'd definitely prefer the NIT Championship over a first round loss, but might choose the NCAA second round loss over an NIT championship.
The year State went to the NIT final four was a LOT of fun--we got to see our first 2 or 3 NIT games at home, and then saw the Dawgs on TV in Madison Square Garden. I enjoyed that MUCH more than watching State lose in the first round of the NCAA's. I enjoyed watching Penn State win the NIT last season, too.
Of course, on NCAA Tourney Selection Sunday, I'd always prefer going to the NCAA's, because there's always a chance to get past the 2nd round, which clearly outweighs even an NIT Championship.
And I'm not considering which is "better for the program"--I'm just going by what is more enjoyable while it is going on.

I can agree with this.
NIT Championship would be more fun to watch.

With Lebo, I don't have to concern myself with such worries
