I keep seeing Ole Miss fans bashing on us for our class. Thinking rivals point system may not be the best way to rank teams, I devised a plan to use it against them to prove my theory.

Out of the Rivals 2010 top 25 recruiting classes, which ones, and how many, offered our players? Ole Miss' players?

There is no way to accurately predict whether one recruiting class will turn out better than another teams class. I believe the coaches know who is better for their team more than the rivals gurus.

**Because Ole Miss is in the top 25, and obviously they offered all of their commitments, I didn't count an Ole Miss offer for either team." Kind of hurt our numbers because they are a top 25 class on rivals, but I didn't think it would be fair for the comparison.**

Ole Miss ranking-- 17
Arkansas ranking-- 48

Ole Miss rivals points--1554
Ark rivals points-- 766

Ole Miss
14/25 with top 25 offers --%56

Ark
13/25 with top 25 offers --%52 (again, not countin Ole Miss offers)

Ole Miss offers

Auburn 1
Bama 3
Ok 1
Tenn 6
Fl St 5
Ga 1
WV 2
Mich 3
Neb 1
Miami 3
S Car 2

Ark offers

Fla 2
Aub 2
Bama 1
LSU 2
Ok 2
UCLA 3
Tenn 1
Fl St 1
Penn St 1
A&M 1
WV 1
Mich 1
Mizzou 1
Neb 3
Miami 1
S Car 2

Look like a couple of comparable classes to me, and we have two kickers. How in the world did they have twice as many points as we did, and a top 25 class?

I'm not worried a bit. We've shown nothing but improvement since Petrino arrived. I believe in our coach.

That is all.

Because we had two four star players who were committed before anyone offered them. Mike Thomas and Randall Mackey. Damien Jackson and Carlos Thompson were two four star guys that had decent offer lists but none from the top 25. So yeah if you take away four of our four stars (you signed a grand total of three remember) then yeah, our recruiting rankings look pretty similar. Mostly because those four players are the difference between your class and ours, dildo.

Also, top 25 offers aren't a very fair way of dictating how good a player is. Just because a team brought in a top 25 class doesn't mean that they get the best players. We had a guy with an Ohio State offer, but Ohio State didn't finish in the top 25 because they only signed 18 players (they finished 26th).

It's pretty simple why Ole Miss outrecruited Arkansas in the rankings.

We had 8 four stars and averaged 3.28 stars per player.
While you had three four stars and averaged 2.97 stars per player.

Ark recruits are typically underrated, how much is unknown. It is part of the fact few top recruits come out of Ark and even fewer other schools travel there to recruit so the agencies don't focus on it as much.

Just wait and see how they do on the field all you can say.

I just want to repeat that we had four-four stars that didn't have any other top 25 offers. his little ranking doesn't illustrate that point very well. Arkansas and Ole Miss's classes are closer than their rivals ranking indicates, but they aren't as close as the OP is making it seem.

Arkansas had just 5 in-state committments.
1-4 star
2-3 stars
and 2-2 stars.

Arkansas signed 5 players from Oklahoma and 4 players from Texas. also signed a player from Missouri that didn't have an offer from Mizzou.
Arkansas' ranking are so bad because Big 12 teams have been overrated the past couple of years. And they got 10 players from Big 12 states. My guess is that rivals knocked off points on these guys because of how overrated the big 12 has been lately.

So you believe he's not worried about it accept for the fact that he started the thread?

Your post makes no sense.

I used to put a lot of stock in Rivals Rankings, but in the past few years I have been looking back at how players were rated at the end of the season. There usually is a big difference. Of course I would feel better if we had the #1 class but noone will know for sure until it's all laid out there on the feild. Brandon Burlsworth is a great example. A walk on at AR and was drafted into the NFL. Unless we have a bottom 20 class I think I'll trust that Bobby knows best.....for this year anyway.....

Recruiting rankings aren't the final say in who had a better class. If I was an Arkansas fan I wouldn't worry about the rankings of the offensive players. I'm pretty sure Petrino can evaluate that side of the ball better than anyone at any of the major recruiting services. We went through a similar situation with Tubs. I had no doubt in my mind that he would bring in players who could play defense in the SEC. Like Tubs what Ark fans need to keep an eye on is the rankings of the players on the defensive side of the ball. I don't know about Arkansas situation but looking back we should have known we were in trouble when the offensive players we were getting only had offers from schools like Troy or So Miss.

That was my main point about rivals. Do you really think Ohio State has the 26th best class?? No way.

Yeah, I know. That was my point. They should only do a top ten. But I disagree when you're talking about offers from top ten schools. If a kid gets an offer from Florida, he's probably pretty good.

We had one to.

Look, I didn't give exceptions for either team. I could have said that we had more players with top 25 offers cause you guys offered them but I didn't. If the only offer those four stars got was yours, then they were probably overrated. Just like the "gurus" at rivals.

Why the hell would a four stars best offer be from Ole Miss. If rivals is doing their job, like most coaches are, this would never be the case.

Damn, stupid again.

You really think that the Big 12 isn't as good as the SEC because of the talent that comes from Big 12 states???
