Win an SEC game all year, will he still be considered a good coach?

yep, and he'll win another sec championship next year--and he doesnt have criminals on his team

brady left him lot of talent the first year. We will see how good he is with his own players.

Hypothetically, of course, if they don't win just 1 game. How can you consider him a good coach? Are they the least talented team in the SEC? They may be near the bottom, but Auburn, UGA, and Bama aren't working with a whole lot either.

You people are so jealous of LSU

I think he could be doing a better job, but in his defense, none of those teams are having to give significant minutes to a bunch of walk-ons.

With who exactly? you lose your best player, and are adding a couple 3 and 4 stars. LSU will probably be the worst team in the league next year too.

walk ons or not you can't go 9 minutes without scoring a fg and expect to win.

He still won the SEC last yeear and would of gone deep i nthe tourney if the rest of the SEC diidn't suck and us end up with a crappy seed playing the National Champs in round 2. So yes, he's a good coach. He took a team Brady went 8-13 with and did that.
This year is directly a result of Brady not recruiting well the last couple of years to plan for the future. Guys likes Tweety Carter and LaceDarius Dunn should be on this team so it's really not so bad but instead they are leading Baylor to a good season and upsets over a team like Texas where as we just hop[e not to get beat by 30.
Next year we'll be full on scholarship players with Trent bringing in a monster class. It will also be a pretty veteran team only losing 1 player from this year. I don't know if we'll be SEC Title contenders but we should make the tournament. 2011 and 2012 will be big years for LSU basketball.

Look at my post. We are bringing in a top recruiting class along with good experienced big body in Malcolm White from Ole Miss.
We will hardly be the worst team in the SEC next year.
And your post seems an awful lot like what people said about Trent Johnson in his first year. We went 13-18, 5-11 SEC the year previous to him and lost a lottery pick...he took us to 14-2 SEC and won the conference.
Next year we will be a force to deal with in the SEC..

monster class.
I don't know if it qualifies as a monster class by any stretch of the imagination. UT has a good class, Memphis has a monster class, Kentucky will probably have a monster class. Trent's class will keep him competitive in the SEC west, but that's about it.

How can you say this and question his coaching ability? Sure you can question his recruiting ability.

You are overrating the talent. They weren't that great and lacked a big man. They had to play an all SEC player out of position because they lacked guys.

He's bringing in 2 Top 100 players, 1 Top 150 player, another solid 3/4 type of forward and a big body to play the 5 for us that is experienced and pretty good. That's a monster class for us compared to what we have right now. We'll go from 8 scholarship players with no depth anywhere to 13 scholarship players with depth everywhere.

no coach in the country could win with this team Johnson is coaching. LSU fans knew this was coming after everyone left last year.

I don't think you can judge Johnson on wins and losses this year. I would judge him by whether his team plays hard night in and out. That's the same way I'm judging Anthony Grant. I know we are short on talent, but we play hard every game, and bring great intensity on the defensive side of the ball. Once we get a couple scorers, we are capable of being very good.

Sounds like major sour grapes. Trent will know how to use him unlike your guard based offense.
