I know this is difficult for you to comprehend but at Alabama there is a tradition of placing a statue of coaches who win national championships near Bryant-Denny stadium.

One of those coaches is Wallace Wade:

quote:

Wallace Wade (1892-1986) is considered one of the greatest coaches in the history of college football. He is credited with promoting southern football nationwide by building powerhouses at the University of Alabama and Duke University in North Carolina. Wade led three Alabama teams to national championships and took three Alabama teams and two Duke teams to the prestigious Rose Bowl.

Wade left Alabama for Duke. He still won three national championships at Alabama. But Alabama fans respect his accomplishments and his statue is in front of BDS.

I know this may be a very difficult concept for you and your fellow Auburn fans, but at Alabama past achievements mean something. We remember and revere our past heroes.

It is a little strange to have a statue of the sitting coach outside the stadium, IMHO. If I were in charge I would wait untill he is no longer coaching at BAMA (for whatever reason). I am not in charge though, so "to each their own".

BTW: You know if "the dump" is the pose, some LSU fan will put "a little something" under the back of that stature.
