IF, and to me it's a big IF, Malzie left to be a HC at ECU or Tech, would you think this would be a tremendous blow to AU or is Chiz the team?

I've heard some say Malzahn has made Chizik! Thoughts?

If Malzahn leaves, expect to see Troop get promoted to OC. Before the season started he said he had been trying to learn Malzahn's offense before they worked together.

Gus is a great coach. Watched him for years coaching high school football in Arkansas. He has been a winner everywhere he goes. He will be the head coach at Arkansas some day. It's just a matter of time.

Can't imagine you want to lose him either way

Now it looks like Major Applewhite is a serious candidate at Tech

Curious to see how our area would respond to Applewhite. I liked him when he played at Texas. Not sure of his coaching abilities...but hey, he could do a great job.

We pay Chizik 2M and Malzahn 400k. If we wanted Malzahn more than Chizik, we would be paying him more.

It'd be pretty bad initial blow.. We'd probably lose Dyer and maybe Reed.. But other than that I think we'd be fine.. Chizik hired Malzahn, and has put together a great staff.. He trusts the abilities of his staff and is a great manager.. But in short the whole staff recruits well, and Chizik would fill the OC postition with another innovator..

sometimes Malzahn's playcalling is bad.

I'll admit Chizik exceeded my expectation for 2009. After seeing what he did, I think he has the potential of winning a NC over the next 5 years, if he shows that type of consistency.

Yeah I agree.. There were a lot of three and outs, and the majority of our yards were from big plays of 30+ yards.. I really wouldn't be that let down, except for the fact we'd lose some recruits.. But his offense sure is fun to watch when it's clicking..

Yeah Chizik has fed me my share of crow.. Next year's recruiting class will be the tell all after we can't sell the depth chart.. Even then we'll have to wait until 2011-2012 to see how he develops talent..

Whoever comes to Tech will be getting former Tenn. players, Lennon Creer and Ahmad Paige, and LSU, WR Tim Molten

I'll have you know....pass plays to OTs are completely normal in some countries.

True. But most times our QB was bad also. It was hard for Gus to read the D for him from the sideline the entire game.
