I say this could happen as well, but does Muschamp want to give up what is going to be a job that will pay more money in the long run? If WM wins a national title in Austin in say 2014...dude could make 5 to 6 mil a year by then. Tennessee would likely offer Will about 2.5-3 million and that's being very generous, me thinks. Also, job security? At Texas, you basically play two tough Big XII opponents and one big time OOC game. YOu can win 10 games easily at Texas, year in and out. Meanwhile at Tennessee, 10 wins is a very elite feat now a day considering Florida, UGA, and 2-3 other SEC opponents who can beat you on any given day.

If I am Muschamp, I stay put. Mack has 2 more years. Then, Will gets to be the HC at the premier university. He doesn't have to recruit as hard as he would at UT and he's in a winnable league.

Don't make this whole thing harder on yourself than it has to be. You lost your coach tonight...don't set yourself up for more heartache.

Muschamp will take this job.. Extending Brown's contract was the straw that broke the camel's back.. Muschamp wants to be a head coach..

And he will be. In Austin. He may be animated on the sidelines...but he isn't a buffoon. The guy is sitting pretty at Texas.

He named a price for Auburn last year and has openly stated he'd leave for the UGA job in a heart beat. If they want him he's up for grabs.

Gain some HC experience and bank a few million while waiting for Mack Brown to retire. Not out of the realm of possibility.

Out in Cali, on other coaching jobs, Muschamp said he wanted to be head coach

So he makes around $1 million a year now.. Let's say UT offers him $3 million.. Brown's contract goes through 2016.. So basically he'd be giving up $12 million to wait around and hope Brown retires.. I think that would be the dumb move.. Plus when all is said and done, Tennessee could be a stepping stone to one of his dream jobs..

Let me clarify that. Muschamp has stated he'd leave the HC job at Texas if he had it for the HC job at UGA. This is not a big secret it is widely known. If UT offers 3.5-4 mil he'll get a Vol tomorrow.

Okay, that is a short-term view. The fiscal opportunity cost of him staying at Texas are far outweighed by the benefits of him staying. He has already made the comment that Texas is a "dream job", and he would be better suited to play this hand with Texas by parlaying it into more money to stay.

Tennessee is not a stepping stone job. That's what everyone is so pissed at. I don't think we've ever had a coach leave without being fired.

Right now I would take Muschamp even if he only stayed 3-4 years and left for Texas.

It is to a guy that isn't a true "UT" man, and has openly stated what his dream jobs are.. Clean the sand out of your vag..

It is a stepping stone job for 19 year old head coaches, apparently.

1) Muschamp's dream job is UGA.

2) Richt might be out pretty soon, and if he's smart he'll hold on to the Texas gig (a much better one that Tennessee by a mile) and then move on to UGA if he really wants it.

Why would you go to a shithole for recruiting like Tennessee? Nothing against Vol Nation, but you have to recruit your arse of to be successful there, while at UT, you just have to win and can get a top 5 class every year without even trying. Why again does Muschamp want to go to Tennessee?
