They were becoming a powerful program before he left. Had two seasons IIRC before he left that had them competing with FSU for the title.

Well UNC was such a power house prior to Mack Brown, I mean 13 winning seasons in previous 29 seasons. Only 2 seasons of 10 wins or more in 29 seasons, and 3 seasons of 9 wins.
