Youre right, he should have hopped up as quickly as possible and maybe even called a PSU timeout to give LSU a better chance. What a jerk.
He was and he admitted it to a BR TV station.

The ref tried to push Hitt off once before he threw the flag. If he hadn't ignored the ref he would have maybe been a couple of seconds behind but he wouldn't have lost 15 yards... or possibly have gottne a delay of game call on PSU. I don't feel sorry for Hitt. Play disciplined.
