Several family members, including both parents, graduated from the UofA, so I've always been a huge Razorback fan. I grew up in Ft. Smith and went to games at RRS & BWA (and Barnhill) frequently. I went to UCA for my undergrad degree and then went up to Fayetteville for grad school. I'm back in central AR (Little Rock) now, and I love my Bears, so I try my best to make it to as many UCA home football games as possible. But the Hogs were my first love, and I'd never turn down a chance to see them play. Although I'm sure each one will be painful to watch, I still plan on going to several games at BWA this year.

There are some interesting posts in this thread.

First, I'd like to say that being surrounded by stupid people isn't just a symptom of living in a small, southern state. There are stupid people everywhere. It just comes down to numbers mostly. Wherever there are more smart people, there is generally a higher corresponding number of stupid people.

I also find the discussion about regional differences within states being more important that actual state boundaries interesting. I concur with that point of view.

I'd be more comfortable living in NE Oklahoma or southern Missouri than I would be living east or south of Little Rock. Its just different. We're more western/midwestern, ranching culture as opposed to big southern delta farm culture. The topography is just a lot different across Arkansas, too.

I love living in Arkansas, particularly in Fayetteville. I find it to be easy, quiet, yet fun and full of interesting stuff to do, and plenty of outdoor activities. If I want to act like a hippie or a yuppie, I can. Or, I can be a complete redneck and spend a month fishing and hunting and growing a beard. I have options here that I didn't have living in a big city, and that feels like America and freedom to me.

One of the reasons, though, that I don't like Arkansas playing games in Little Rock is because there are so many people from southern and eastern Arkansas who are so disconnected from the University of Arkansas, and are just there to have a good time and be rowdy.
