ok. I'll bite.....and then I'll laugh at you when you post the exact same thread next week.
Tebow deserves 1st Team All-SEC because he is putting up stellar numbers AND is a great icon of a CFB player off the field. All-SEC team honors are given to players to REPRESENT the SEC both on and off the field. Mallett just isn't doing anything to deserve thatmedia love fest. Tebow deserves it because of a mixture between production AND how he represents hisself and the rest of the SEC.
If literally any other QB were playing for UF and had Tebow's exact stats, then I would agree that Mallett deserves it much more. But there isn't and he doesn't.
THAT'S why Tebow deserves 1st team All-SEC.
Ok. Fair enough.
You believe Tebow should earn it for simply being Tim Tebow.
What should I say to that?
I would rather give hugs and handshakes to kids being good kids, and give FOOTBALL honors to those who produce the best numbers.

BTW, this isn't a knock on Mallet, he is good but it's pretty obvious you want to overlook a big part of Tebow's game.
But the "big part of his game" still does not compensate.
The Arkansas offense isn't hindered by Mallett not being a run threat. We score just as many points, more actually, than Florida and leads the SEC.
QB "A" has 50 TD's with 5 on the ground.
QB "B" has 40 TD's with 30 on the ground.
The fact that QB "B" can run in no way, shape, or form compensates for his inferior numbers.

OK
I guess let's just stick purely to numbers and not any actual playmaking ability.

But that "playmaking ability" isn't translating into better numbers than one of his counterparts.
I know you're not trying to be a dick, and I'm not either.
But it sounds like Tebow could have 50 total yards on the year, with 1 TD, and he is automatically 1st Team All-SEC because at any moment he might start producing.
I don't buy into that. Why don't we just ignore on the field performance and hand out awards to those with the most potential? That's what we are doing with Tebow.

I'm sorry that it doesn't fit your agenda. But that's just the way it is.
That's why it doesn't go based off stat ranks. Never has, never will.
But your obviously biased over-simplification of "just because he's Tim Tebow" is a little funny.

Let's put it this way.
Tim Tebow = undefeated
Ryan Mallet = not so much.
Tebow is also a better leader than Mallet

Tebow is also a better leader than Mallet

This is the biggest reason IMHO.
But he still won't listen.

Ok. And Mallett wouldn't be undefeated with Florida? Come on.
And if you want to make that argument, then tell me why a Bama or Florida DB shouldn't receive 1st Team honors over Berry.

You conveniently forgot to quote this part as well.

Is it easier for a QB to get 100 yards through the air or on the ground? Which is more effective at clock management? Runnign or Throwing?

No, bc/ when you watch him play in a short yardage situation, Tebow can run and throw. You have to respect that. Even when you play him run, he still manages to get that first down 9 out of 10 times.

Well speaking of performance, bad calls or not, Did Tebow lead his team down the field to beat Ark? When UF needs a score or first down, they usually get it and it's mainly b/c of Tebow.
Did Graham Harrell deserve the Heisman last year?

The same way YOU forgot to address what I did say, right?
Works both ways, Chief.
But if you want to say Tebow should earn it based on leadership, ok. Mallett is considered our team leader as well, for what that subjective shite is worth.

Was thinking this exact same thing......
If stats = better, then why the hell is he in the CFL and Stafford is starting for an NFL team.

Pank, relative to your weird logic, explain how Eli got his post-season awards with the W/L record he had.
I know what you are going to say before you say it...so say it clearly so I can own you.

Show me where I neglected the stats, Sport.
If you actually take the time to read what I posted, I said he deserved it based of a mixture of great stats(which he DOES have), leadership(which he has more of), and off the field(Tebow = Saint, Mallett = DUI)

Here are relevant numbers since you decided to overlook them...
The fact that Florida is #8 and you dumbasses are #66 wouldn't mean you are almost completely relying on the pass would it?

if you start bringing stuff like that in the equation, it only helps mallett's case.
i agree tebow will get it based on things other than stats and i won't gripe about it... but it WILL get talked about by the media. some have already been bringing it up. i actually somewhat wish everyone (media) would shut up and even wouldn't mind if mallett sucks it up a little the last few games (but still win).

Seeing as how we lead the SEC in total offense, and Florida is pushing for the 9th slot in team passing, the same logic could be flipped to say "Florida relies on the run", only boosting the case for Mallett's superior numbers to earn him the 1st team nod.
What's your point?

Mallet couldn't hold Tebow's cape.
Mallet dreams of one day wearing Tim Tebow underwear.

Let's put it this way.
Florida: Good defense.
Arky: No defense.
Tebow has thrown 7 TD's and 4 INT's versus SEC defenses.
He averages 3.5 yards per carry and less than a TD per game rushing. He averages 170 passing yards per game and a little over 1 TD per game.
He just hasn't done much. Take away games versus Charleston and Troy (4 TD's) and his numbers are much worse.
