I believe Slive should just come out and admit the officials have been terrible and missed the call in the LSU/bama game. He should say that quality officiating and getting things right are of great importance to the league and that they are going to address the problems.

I think this (coming clean and admitting the mistakes) would be a much better approach than this stonewalling and threatening to fine and suspend anyone who breaks the silence on the issue. I think people are just going to get more pissed off. A lot of the tension and frustration could be released if Slive and the SEC would just let open the valve. Otherwise, I don't see this dying down. Acting like there is not a problem and ignoring people's concerns not only increases anger and frustration but gives rise to conspiracy theories and thoughts of cover-ups.

I commit to drop it if the SEC admits the blown call. The game is over. Bama won. Admitting a bad call won't change the outcome, but it would lower the angst level among LSU fans. Its a win/win for the SEC. That's why the won't do it. I don't thing Slive and Rogers Redding give a damn about what anyone thinks.

its kinda like a drug problem. You first have to admit you have a problem. Slive thinks the sec officials are just fine.

What else can you expect when the head of officials (Redding) is a GT grad? Not to mention that little fricker that was suspended (Mark Curles, is a Techie as well.

Pay the refs more.

The schools make millions, the coaches make millions and the refs make about 500/game. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not saying the refs would take money to fix a game.. but they might be less likely to take money if they were paid more than peanuts.

unfortunely because of so many games that have been officiated so poorly,Slive's silence is deafening. For one it's put a black eye on a deserved win by Bama.Bama did nothing but play hard,as did LSU.I think most of the Bama fans are as frustated about the officiated as anyone.Being on the good side of a bad call only takes from your team and thats not fair to that particular team.

well, i may be an idiot, but i wrote to the ncaa about the problems. i figure they are the only influence on the sec. if enough complaints reach the ncaa top offices, maybe they will prompt a change. really, i'm at a loss since slive is such a freaking ostrich!

I say let the NCAA take over officiating and use refs from other areas outside of the SEC.

Already proposed and is being tested this year. Don't know if the schools will adopt it though

Slive will sliver past this one and let the story die. If he goes public it just puts this back in the news cycle and publically cheapens Bama's win. The story is winding down.

of course he wants it to die. There is corruption written all over it.

IMO it won't die especially now with the bloggers all over it and believe it or not there is a fire Mike Slive group now on facebook.

It will die until the next screw up. With the group of refs the SEC now has its only a matter of time. With every new screw up and every new duck and cover move by the SEC the conspiracy theorist gain ground.

Its time to pay them more and get rid of the old over weight fat arse's who seem to be out of position.WHEN you blow calls like in the Bama LSU game you should pay for your mistakes. These kids work hard year round so when some cheating son of a bitch take the game from them you should pay the price, like find work somewhere esle

The officiating is gross. I'm tired of having my Saturday's ruined by it and I'm tired having people talk about it constantly. What we should all be saying right now is: I can't wait to see Peterson and Julio Jones go at it again next year. But we can't because the conference refs didn't let a great game have a great finish...again.

It seems to me that if the there is a subconscious favoritism lurking in the SEC officials, then it won't go away until Slive and Redding admit it and correct it. "No comment" just is going to cut it.

But what power to simple fans have over the Commish? I can really only think of one effective one and that is to hit him where he made career. He inked the 3 billion dollar deal with CBS and ESPN. I can boycott it. I can refuse to watch any commercial during those games or I can refuse to buy any products that are endorsed during those games.

I guess I'll be watching games a few minutes delayed on my DVR the rest of this season so I can skip the ads.

Why? They get paid well when Bama is involved.
