It's time the other 10 member schools of the SEC got together and demand that changes be made in football officiating. Each team should be able to go into to any stadium against any team and know that the game will be called fairly by the refs. This is not happening currently in the SEC.

Some of the money being generated from our new TV contracts should be used to recruit, train and monitor officials who have the proper skills to keep up with today's faster paced game. The current system is not working and is due a major overhaul from top to bottom. The integrity of the SEC will suffer until something is done.

If you want to effectuate change, you have to be ready to get dirty and spend some money.

I agree with everything you said. I was never one of the conspiracy theorists and always hated when people claimed the refs blew a game, but last night was almost too obvious for me.

Oh, there is a way to get it to work; file a breech of contract i agreement from the other 10 schools in the conference and form our own conference. If the SEC Commissioners office wants to be that greedy and show blatant favoritism, jump ship and let their Lil Two have all of their rewards.

Slive will be leaving soon anyway but if this happens again next year you will see a major backlash to this. Auburn, LSU, UGA, OM, and others won't stand for being pushed off like happened during the 60s and 70s.

arrakis,

Because I'm not qualified. I'm also not qualified to fly airplanes, but I expect those pilots who work for Delta and the other airlines to be either competent or grounded.

I believe if you do some checking you will find that I was already a member here before CPA was banned. If you don't believe that, then by all means feel free to report me to the administrators.

Define competent

Which banning would that be?

This is the worst that I've seen in a long time. There is no doubt that the officials are making poor calls which are effecting the outcomes of games. They must be called out on it but in reality it is already too late. The damage is done and now coaches will get a massive fine if they dare say anything in public about the issue.

Mr Slizey should be fined $100,000 and each ref in that game should be fined $30,000. Is this the same crew that was suspended earlier?

No, that crew was supposed to work our game yesterday, but was suspended. This was the replacment crew.

Competent: Having the necessary ability or skill to do something successfully.

I posted this in another thread... but.. it completely amazes me that grown men believe in a referee conspiracy.

"Alabama won!... they must be cheating! there's no way they could be *gasp* better than us!"

Define successfully. Sooner or later you've got to get to the specifics. Is grading at 90% competent?....95%?....99%? What's the dividing line between competent and incompetent? Also, who is going to do the grading; sportswriters and fans?

Is there not an NCAA office responsible for the oversight of officiating andthe conduct of conference officials? If so, could someone post the contact info?

Time to start baggering them with e-mails.

I realize I don't have as many posts as you, but I came to SEC Rant to converse with other SEC fans about football rather than the finer points of lexicology and semantics. Did I miss something here?
