I say 92 that group was sick.

'92 was better as a unit, '09 might have better individual players...

92
8 games into that season, they had only given up 56 points total. They gave up 122 on the year and pitched 3 shutouts.
This team is one of the top in the nation at this point and that is giving up 91 points at this point.

The offenses in 1992 didn't score as much either outside 92 Florida.

Bama only gave up 13 TD's that year and only in 2 games did any team score more than one against them. Florida and Miss St both scored 21 that year.

Going back and looking at stats under Stallings and I forget how impressive his defenses were. So much like Saban's today. But Stallings in his tenure had 9 shutout games.

I agree 92 is better, but offenses today are much more complex and high scoring than they were then. just a thought.

Perhaps, but the Fun n Gun was revolutionary at the time. And all one has to do is look at Nebraska when they handed it to Steve. Power offenses still scored a helluva lot of points back then. You had to be more physical.

just saying it would make a good argument. I still agree 92 Bama.

Kinda of off track here, but the 1961 team
was better than both of them. They only
gave up 25 points all year.

in 1961 they were running the wishbone too.

Almost impossible to compare, just look at how dynamic and different Spurrier's offense was at that time, now he's just another guy. I want to go with 2009 but one group won a NC so its a bit hard to go the other way till this one does, if they do.

and its just as hard to compare the 92 one to the 61 one, evolving offenses. May be blasphemy but I'll take this one over the 61 and without any hesitation, just so much bigger faster athletes.

2003 LSU for now, we have a chance to be as good or better but it would mean we won a NC.

In their respective eras, the '92 team was better. Head to head, the '09 team is better.

I say 2008 Florida. They held the highest scoring offense in NCAA history to 14 points.

As far as comparing.. There is still a couple of players still playing in the NFL from the 92 team. They're still playing the best of the best and did for most of the 2000's.
