Urban Meyer, Tim Tebow

an interesting thought popped in to my head recently about Meyer and the Arkansas game.
Did you guys/gals realize QB Tim Tebow carried the ball 27 times? That's as many carries as a running back. Now, tell me something Florida fans and others who think Urban is a good coach. Why is it that in his 4 years at Florida he has been unable to recruit and/or develop other offensive talent around Tebow so that when he's playing at home, against a bottom feeder like Arkansas, against the statistical worst defense in the SEC he has to use his QB to run 27 times. Does he not have more offense recruited/developed than this? Why take 27 chances on Tebow to get injured and be done for the year?
As you can see, when I said Urban Meyer was not a very good football coach, I was right. There is no football logical in that philosphy.

One thing really helps fla. is the man love for tebow with the refs. You should have lost the last 2 games! Glad the ref's got suspended. Hope bama kicks your arse

Urban has built his legend on Tebow -- but when superman goes, the Gators will fall to earth. By the way, BAMA is better and LSU not far behind once our kid QB develops.

He started his legend by going 12-0 @ Utah and then beating a heavily favored osu team with a qb not meant for his system.

Agreed, Ask Coach Tressel what he thought of Tebow in the 06' NC game. Not even a factor. Urban will be just fine with his up-comming classes w/o Tim Tebow. Great coaches build great teams with the talent they have.

but you are not addressing my point. Is it logical for the QB to carry the ball in a game like that, in the middle of the year, at home, against a woeful defense, 27 times? Why not have a running back and some receivers doing more with the ball? Why is Meyer having that team in a posistion to have to run his QB 27 times, 3 weeks removed from a major concussion? Can't he recruit and develop talent better than that?

Legit. question that I can only answer as Tebow is that power running back who also happens to be the quarterback. If you look at the effectiveness of the spread option that FL runs it centers on the ability of Tebow to be a threat at all time to power run vs. pitch off to Rainey, Demps etc.. It's this ??? in the defenses mind that makes the offence work.

im a true gator fan and of course no coach would want there quarterback to run 27 times ...but obviously u must not watch foobtall because more than half of those runs are not called they are passing plays and he gets pressured ..and my 2nd point - the reason that urban is a great coach is because he knows that to win u have to get the ball in your best players hands...back to back baby ..possible 3 peat if everyone stays ..and if tebow or urban was on ur team u would love them too im sure u wish u could trade ole dropout snead lol what a joke
