my god they are terrible every year. never would have thought that'd be a problem. did everyone catch up, what happened to the fun-n-gun?
hell, hire Muhme as an offensive coach, at least be fun to watch. never gonna be better than 8-4, at least make it fun to watch.

Players make a difference

man, south carolina looks average at best. their defense is pretty good but man...

He went from UF where he had players. To SC where he does not.

he puts too much emphasis in the passing game. Running has been working fine for him this game but he still wants to throw and he don't have a good QB nor a good pass blocking line.
At Florida he could get that talent and 4.2 receivers to go along with it.
Thats why you have to run the ball 60% of the time to win at a place like SC in the SEC. I garauntee you if his priorties were different they'd be running over this team by about 24-3 right now.

yeah, SC, but "product of the system" was applied to a lot of those Florida players.

Spurrier has several things against him now.
1. Talent it is harder to recruit at USC but he has improved the talent leve.
2. His system is not that ground breaking anymore as other coaches are using it.
3. He hasn't developed a solid running game.
4. QBs he hasn't had a good QB to run his system.

It's called QB.
You can recruit to south carolina. They've got a bang up defense and have talent at WR and RB. The OL has always seemed to struggle which doesn't help the QB.
With a good QB, this team could win 9-10 games... otherwise it's another 7-6 type season.

has he had a decent QB since hes been there? he should just hang it up. go from glory at UF to a shite program like SC.

He hasn't developed a QB as the one who starts may not finish the same game much less the season.
His offense is built around deep passes with play action. Well play action must be coupled with some type of a running game for it to be believable. Also you need pass protection something that is difficult with a deep passing game.
Spurrier's most successful year was 2006 but this was also the year where he had to change his offense the most to get it to work.
If you want to see Spurrier's passing game with a strong running game look at Petrino. He will openly say he copied Spurrier's passing plays but learned it must be mixed with a solid running game to work, note he learned the running game issue while at AU.

i think if he was at a florida or lsu or alabama, his offensive imagination would be off the charts. he just doesn't have much to work with.

Very good site with several quality links on it as well. Chris is arguably the smartest football blog person I've seen.

And also add the fact that Clemson tends to be the stronger program.
