a fanbase runs off a coach and that coach is immediatly hired by a divisional rival that faces his old team each year?
I know that in baseball, Toronto picked up Roger Clemens after Clemens was either traded or released and Clemens came back into fenway and shut them down one night. As he walk off the field he pointed at the skybox of folk that let him go.
In the NFL has a situation like this ever happend with a coach? I don't think it has in college.

Dusty Baker used to work for the Cubs and now works for the Reds.

Who gives a shite about modern day sports. Let's talk Babe Ruth.

thanks prostyleoffensetime.
I forget about Bake. He did go to Sanfransico for a few years after Chicago. And the Reds haven't won since Sweet Lou and the nasty boys so i'm not sure that's relevant. MLB pretty much is protected against situations like that with coaches.
I can't imagine a coach getting in a situation like that. Torre vs the Yankees in the WS???!!

Ole Miss didn't "run him off"...
I'm sure it's happened in pro sports hundreds of times... the red sox decided not to resign Johnny Damon who ended up in NY... does that count?
EDIT: the OP said coach... hmmm, does james willis count? He wasn't "run off" but he certainly wasn't feeling the love from Chizik and Roof...

Houston Nutt. Arkansas pretty much ran him off.

I know part of the reason Spurrier left was because 10 wins wasn't good enough anymore.

Who, Tubbs?
We didn't technically run him off but we sure as hell didn't do much to stop him.
His biggest problem with Ole Miss is the lack of commitment to athletics by the school. He wanted an improved practice facility and a new track and field facility and we never made a movement towards those goals.
Will never forget his first game back in Oxford. You could see him walking with a couple of his coaches and security on our brand new Track and Field facility. You could see his frustrations from a mile a way.

Pankreb, now we have the indoor practice facility which is one of the nicest in the SEC if not the nicest.

Yep. Chris Low said its one of the nicest in the SEC.
That's why I respect Billy Brewer for what he did. He put together some good seasons with an administration that gave ZERO support to athletics.
The fact that he got us on probation keeps me from loving the guy.

paul doesnt fit on that list. He wasnt run off from LSU. He left to be the first non west point grad too coach at army. He also never coached at a in div/conf rival. He coached at usce before they were in the sec.
also butch davis wasn't ran off either. He left for the nfl.
Pitino also didnt get run off. left for the nba.
