Phil Paramore, If you people don't know who he is he's a sports radio host down in Southeast Alabama which also broadcasts in Southwest Georiga and the Florida Panhandle. Well anyways he just had Jay Jacobs on and Jacobs said the reason why Auburn won't schedule Troy is because he doesn't want to have to compete with Troy for recruits. I kid you not. He also said the reason why they didn't schedule UCLA is because they would have to buy out someone. But wouldn't ESPN buy the game out for Auburn so they could schedule UCLA? . I think they probably would. They did that with Bama.

Auburn is in trouble if they have to worry about Troy taking away recruits.

He's an idiot. I actually don't believe that. He basically came up with a very stupid excuse to cover the real reason he doesn't want to play them and that is because he doesn't want to lose to them. You get nothing out of playing them and if they win, they get some serious recognition. It's the same reason we won't play UAB.

I have heard this is the same excuse that Bama gives for not wanting to play UAB.

It's the losing to another weaker school in state deal. When Memphis finally beat UT that one time you woulda thought hell had frozen over the way UT fans acted

I think competing with Troy for recruits is a legit concern for Auburn.

This is exactly it. Almost every school has another school they won't play for this reason. State and Ole Miss don't play Southern Miss but I would love to see USM added to both sched's every year.

Am I really? They sure as hell aren't competing with Alabama. Are you simply saying Auburn is a lock to get all the players Bama doesn't want?
