Skullhawk that is what Arkansas as a program is in the SEC. Arkansas is a sparsly populated state that only produces about 5 to 8 SEC caliber players per year. On average, 2 of those are what you'd call Blue chippers and usually less than 2 guys from the state of Ark go to the NFL per year.

The Alabamas, Auburns, LSUs, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee have by far and away better potential to recruit NFL caliber talent and history shows that. Ole Miss, South Carolina have slightly more potential. So, Arkansas is not a place that should ever have high expectations but of course there were times it did b/c they had a great coach. It takes a great coach to create high expectations. Sao sort of poked fun about all those years not being in the top 25 but Arkansas does not have a top 25 recruiting base most years. Think of all the talent in the big10? big12? west coast? east coast? Florida? Ohio State? I think Arkansas is a top 35 but not top 25.

I also think it is unrealistic after a year like 2006 for Arkansas to go on the road and beat all those bigtime programs for a second year in a row after losing 4 guys to the NFL ,2 of which were high defensive picks. The only loss that should not have happend was Kentucky at home but he made up for that by beating LSU on the road. The expectations were there b/c of the backfield but it takes more to win in the SEC than that.

it's also illogical to believe that change is impossible. We've seen what has been but what will be is the true question.
