can someone tell me what kind of city it is? I know I don't have to worry about SEC football there, I know I will be outnumbered by the Gator fans, but how livable is the city? Anyone have any idea?

You know I think you're going to just have to get another job, I mean there's literally no real estate for sale down here at all and all of the stuff for rent is taken by students. 
Oh and don't listen to Kige, he's just pissed because he used to live here but had to move...we didn't have a homosexual community large enough for his appetite.

I personally enjoy Gainesville anytime I go. Now, there is a difference in going for a football weekend and living there permanently, but I think you'll enjoy it. Just gel your hair and buy some jorts and you'll make friends in a hurry.

I've lived in Gainesville for a pretty long time now. Yeah, there's a shitload of Gator fans, and yeah, they're insufferable right now because they're so damn good, but I have a blast here. It's still small enough with plenty to do inside the city limits...thanks to UF, I guess. The Atlantic is an hour to the east, the Gulf is about an hour to the west. If you get bored here, Jax is an hour to the northeast, Orlando and Tampa are a couple of hours south. Homes can be had for the low 100's, median and nicer homes are in the low 200's and up to 1M.
Folks around here know I'm a Gump. I've never had any problems. You'll like it.

It's probably the worst time ever to consider moving to Florida. The economy is about to tank hard, and Gov. Crist is doing everything he can to get out of office before it does.
I would recommend you look elsewhere, if possible.
