How important is a coaches bowl record in considering how great they are?

Does the type of bowls won/loss influence your opinion?

Yes. Bowls do not weigh heavily for me in a coaches standing. However, record in NC games would weigh heavily in my opinion of a coaches ability.

Unless its just glaringly bad, it doesn't influence my opinion very much. Hooray, we beat another freaking Big 10 team in some horsecrap game in Florida..

Its only not important when your team has a shitty one. Kinda like how bama fans dont care about baseball.

Or it is the true reflection of a team no matter how bad they sucked it up during the season. If you're some Lsu fans.

Depends on which ones, really. The BCS ones are supposed to be "evenly matched" teams.

After the #1 and sometimes #2 teams are pulled from a conference to play in them the pairings get skewed somewhat for the "lesser" bowls.

I don't think bowls outside of the BCS bowls mean a whole lot. Even then, the BCS ones outside of the championship game are, in the end, actually pretty meaningless as well. But I certainly don't think a win or loss in the Music City Bowl or the Peach Bowl mean a whole lot in terms of a coach's prestige. Certainly back in the day when championships and final rankings were awarded before the bowl games they didn't mean squat.

Well it is an out of conference game at a neutral site so I would say it means a good bit. You also get a month to prepare for that one game witch should show a lot about how good a coach is by their team's preparation.

a shitty bowl record/ choke job in bowls by coaches def goes into how good i think they are.

it has to be a pattern though like tosu being owned in bowls

IMO, except BCS bowls, ZERO importance. I mean no one cares who wins the Liberty Bowl. It's just a reward.

I'm guessing Tide fans will soon treat bowl games like they currently do baseball games.

As in not give a shite.

Ancient history. Les being 4-0 helps one forget Saban's bowl record.

I give a shite about BCS bowls and the NC, obviously. Those are pretty damn important.

Will I be disappointed if we lose the Cotton Bowl? Yes. But, I'd rather lose the Cotton Bowl than any SEC game.

If one believes that ONE game can reflect an entire season, does this apply to 2007 Stanford? 2008 Alabama? Etc., etc.,

One game is one game relative to a season, the only exceptions being championsips.
