Alabama and Florida are certainly fighting for second place, at least right now, behind Texas for the mythical recruiting title.

I'd say it's easily a fight for 3rd at this point with Alabama and whomever else. Florida is way, way out in front and right up there fighting Texas (just have a less recruits right now)

Short of (the state of) Alabama getting a magical 3 5-star recruits for the 3rd straight year Bama likely isn't in the conversation for the Top Two spots this year.

I think Florida might have a better shot at #1 than Texas especially if Texas whiffs on the top Texas kids once again like Seastrunk, White, Jeffcoat and Nelson. They may only sign 1 5-star kid (Wilson, who should be a 5-star if he stays about where he is right now). Florida already has a 5-star locked up and are looking good for a couple other very high caliber kids. I think it's likely to end up 1. Florida, 2. Texas.

If anyone has any concrete links on the counting back thing I'd appreciate it. I'm only going on what I've heard from a couple of columnists in the Florida area that cover the Gators. I'm a journalism major at UF and have a few contacts in the biz.

You're right, the state of Alabama is likely to only produce Demarcus Milliner as a five star for the 2010 class. However, Phillip Sims can get a fifth star, if he continues to develop like many think he can. The are a few other guys we're after that are currently high four stars, that can move up with a strong camp circuit, and great senior season. I wouldn't count Alabama out for one of the top two spots yet. However, as you've state, Florida and Texas are putting together great classes. Regardless, I won't complain with finishing third, especially after the last two classes Coach Saban has signed.
