Take a look at 'Bama 2006: 6-7; 1 win by 7 points or less; 4 losses by 7 points or less. So that means at -3 they should have had a much better record correct? Well in 2007 they had the same 6-6 regular season record but happend to win their bowl game.

It does if they're bringing back 16 starters like we are, which they weren't.

Ah but 16 starters of a team SC beat last year in Oxford yes? Unless they were 16 freshman I cant imagine how suddenly their skills as football players would have skyrocketed unless Ole Miss had a few coaching staff changes that would cater to the players or even just new strength and conditioning coach.

The best argument I have for the returning starters argument would be the '06-'07 UK squad.. they had Woodson and Little and some other key guy who's name slips my mind. Any way I remember this so well because both SC and UK had benefited from the top 10 losing each week and UK was #8 and SC #11 or 12 at the time they played in 2007. I remember very vividly a Wake Forest fan and friend of mine telling me UK was going to beat us that year that they had all those guys coming back.. by chief comeback to that was.. we beat the same guys in Lexington by 7 last year.. we'll beat them this year in Columbia. Sure enough the final was 38-23 in SCs favor.

edit - Sorry for the long post, didnt realize the story was that long. Much shorter when I say it out loud.

and by the way I dont want any Ole Miss fan to think Im trying to talk shite or bring OM down, Im just bringing the counter-argument and as a fellow historically mid-to-low tier SEC team I know the feeling of not wanting to see a team like OM, UK, MSU, Vandy succeed and wonder why SC isnt doing the same.
