Tennessee running back to transfer to La. Tech
Former Tennessee running back Lennon Creer is expected to enroll at Louisiana Tech on Thursday, the first day of summer classes at the school, Tyler, Texas radio station KTBB reported.
"I've talked with three coaches affiliated with Lennon and all three said he told them he was choosing Tech over Tulsa," David Smoak, a longtime sports talk host on KTBB, said.
Creer, a highly recruited, four-star recruit out of Tatum (Texas) High School, left Tennessee recently after the coaching change from Phillip Fulmer to Lane Kiffin.
"Lennon is no longer with us," Kiffin said in a published report. "We had a meeting and he's decided he doesn't want to be part of the program anymore, so we're going to go in a different direction. We wish him the best of luck.
"Hopefully, he will finish the semester well academically so he will be able to transfer somewhere else. I talked a lot about it with him and really pushed him to (finish the semester), get some credits, get some units, so he will be able to transfer."
Creer was the Vols' second leading rusher in 2008 with 388 yards while averaging 5.3 yards per rush. He scored four touchdowns.
Since Creer has not officially enrolled in school, Tech coaches could not confirm whether the 6-foot-1, 202-pounder will become a Bulldog. He would have two years of eligibility remaining after sitting out a season.
As a prep senior in 2006, Creer racked up 2,744 yards and scored 36 touchdowns prompting offers from Texas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Nebraska and Oklahoma before choosing the Vols. He was the No. 10-rated running back in the country.

Kid probably wasn't into the homoerotic strip-tease sessions.

He was always a back with potential, but never really shined when he got an opportunity.
That being said, I'm sure he will be an big upgrade to whoever you guys had.

I think that makes a bakers dozen now.

They are losing these kids left and right.

What that doesn't tell you, Google-nerd, is that he had a bunch of big runs in 4th quarters of games that were already over (either win or loss) for UT
But that doesn't play well into your seeming cleverness.
Also, its not a baker's dozen because he has been off the team for a couple of months now. We are probably in real trouble at RB with Hardesty & Poole and the #1 overall recruit at RB as well as the #1 all-purpose back coming in. Damn.

gotcha. My mistake. I didn't realize it was only still 12.

With a QB like Crompton, yeah, you are. It's not like you have a passing attack to keep defenses honest or anything.

Also, is there really no concern about the coaching staff and team unity with the S & C Coach still there with a big rift between him and the coaching staff? I mean, I think it would be fair to say that with the antics of your head coach, it's not beyond the realm of possibilities that he is bad mouthing the guy to the rest of the team. Money is the only issue keeping him there because it's pretty widely reported that there is animosity between them.

Lane Kiffin is a train wreck waiting to happen

11 players have left or been kicked off as far as I know...who is the 12th??
Everyone sees this as a gaff for Kiffin but what people don't realize is a big part of it is because of the sheer degree of poor character individuals that Fulmer had been recruiting the past few years. Now before people start going crazy with all the creative plunger jokes, I actually do applaud Kiffin as he said he is going to make a concerted effort to keep people getting in trouble with the law off the team. And I will say, this offseason has been much better than the last few years in terms of our players getting in trouble with the law.
People like to act like these 11 players are a huge deal, but the reality is that only one of them (Morley) was a significant contributor. And thankfully we are as deep in the secondary as anywhere.
And your point about Crompton, while it might be true, doesn't change the fact that losing Creer doesn't hurt us. We are still stacked at RB, and even if Creer were still around, it wouldn't change the fact that Crompton is not a great QB.
He will probably help La Tech out, though.
