DESTIN, Fla. – Finally made it to the Sandestin Hilton after a long day of flight delays, low visibility and high stress. Won’t bore you with all the particulars. And certainly can’t say I was the only person inconvenienced: Kentucky coach Rich Brooks was strolling through the C terminal at the Atlanta airport only a couple hours before the football coaches were scheduled to meet here. The highly anticipated football coaches meeting, that is. For the first time since I’ve been covering these SEC spring meetings, the Sandestin posted a security guard outside the conference rooms – ostensibly to keep the media at bay, not to break up any potential scuffles. UT coach Lane Kiffin, sort of the firecracker at these meetings, met with the media earlier. When asked if he planned to apologize to Urban Meyer in person for accusing the Florida coach of cheating, Kiffin said he was still waiting for an apology from USC coach Steve Spurrier – for questioning whether Kiffin had taken the NCAA recruiting test after Kiffin was hired (a question that took on more relevance as Kiffin tripped over recruiting rules). Kiffin also said that Vols strength coach Mark Smith, formerly of USC, remains employed at UT. But reports out of Knoxville are that Smith and Kiffin have agreed to part ways. It sounds like a settlement is being negotiated. Spurrier has not spoken with the media, yet. Hope to catch him following the meeting. It will be interesting to get the blow-by-blow from what had to be an awkward couple of hours.

How can he want an apology when he's repeatedly violated NCAA rules after that?

I think it is funny.
A lot of USCe and UGA fans seem to forget the barbs from Spurrier in the 90s.

And Spurrier has earned his right to talk. Not recently but he's made his mark.
Kiffin is just an idiot.

Kiffin has done nothing to date to earn the respect that comes with getting an apology. And with five self-reported secondary violations in the last 3-4 months, I'd say Spurrier was pretty much telling it like it was.

The point Kiffin was making was that Spurrier falsely accused Kiffin of not taking the test in time to start recruiting Marlon Brown when he, in fact, had(and got a 39 out of 40 on it, for the record).
Pretty much the exact same deal as Kiffin's false accusation of Meyer. Of course, Kiffin and Mike Hamilton didn't bitch about it to Mike Slive like certain other individuals.

Maybe Spurrier should've said that Kiffin didn't learn anything from his pre-test studies. I deal with folks all the time that have Masters degrees and don't know shite about their alleged specialty.

Then he should be forced to retake it. And no cheating this time!

Told of Kiffin's comment late Tuesday, Spurrier shook his head and faced Kiffin, who was waiting for an elevator with a couple other coaches. "I didn't accuse you of cheating," Spurrier told Kiffin. "I said, 'Is it permissible to call recruits before he's announced as head coach, before you take the test?"
Spurrier then turned back toward reporters and told them Kiffin took the test online and was unaware that was allowed. Kiffin's face turned red during the 40-second exchange and said something that was inaudible.
Spurrier was still talking as the elevator doors closed, exiting to laughter from media members and probably quite the elevator ride for Kiffin, Auburn's Gene Chizik, Arkansas' Bobby Petrino and Kentucky's Rich Brooks.
