This maybe Germans but LINK
What is the chance that we get Anthony Grant?
I hope he comes but we are in competition with GA

I don't think GA is in the mix with Grant. But It will be hard for him to take Bama knowing Kentucky may open up, IMO.

Since this appears to be a BAMA only thread
I'll say it would be an extraordinary hire to get Grant.
If he wasn't interested, he wouldn't be listening.

Not to flame, but don't wet your pance just yet. This guy has turned down numerous offers from schools with much better traditions/facilties than UGA and Bama. Who really knows? Maybe you guys proposed some ludacris offer these others schools haven't; I doubt it, though.
Oh yeah, and this is coming from a fan of a school who had bought into the "Grant to LSU" speculation.

extraordinary hire

Anderson would be my first choice of the candidates we've heard about, with Grant as my second choice. Grant will be on hold until Anderson gets bounced out of the tourney....Mal will make a run at him then (if contact hasn't already been made).

He's got it pretty nice at Mizzou. He's got a better facility, Mizzou basketball is as important-maybe more important- than Mizzou football, and you know they're going to dish out big-time $$$ to keep him around. You know they're desperate to stay good at something.

UK won't offer him. I'd LMFAO if UK offered a coach with little experience who comes from VCU.

From CBS-6 in Richmond, Va.

Sources tell CBS 6 Sports that the University of Alabama has offered VCU's Anthony Grant their head coaching job at a salary somewhere between $2.1 and $2.4 million per year.

overpaying for a largely unproven coach imo. i like Grant a lot, but what has he really done?

It won't be the first time we've done this.
I will say this guy gets glowing recommendations from some of the top basketball coaches in the country.

Meh, I think it's a good investment. He's pretty popular across the country, he's done nothing but win at VCU, and he's a young, black coach (Yes, I realy do think that plays at least a little factor in recruiting)

It will not be Anderson,so I hope Grant says yes.

I think you guys have made the same mistake LSU fans did: expect to go out and land the biggest "up-and-comer" in basketball; however, we were real lucky to have Trent Johnson in a fued with Stanford's athletic dept. Otherwise, we probably wouldn't have landed him.

Per VCU message board...

FYI I heard from a couple of VCU basketball players late last night that they have an emergency meeting with Coach Grant today. They seem to think that he is going to Alabama.

Domino effect ? UK cans Gillespie, Donovan leaves Florida for Kentucky, Grant goes to Florida ?
He was going to Gainesville two years ago when Donovan went to Orlando for an hour or so.
