Pretty good Breakdown of this years IU run

Good breakdown. People keep saying, "Indiana bought the best transfers", and "Mark Cuban bought the team." According to transfer portal rankings these players were not the highest ranked transfers, with Mendoza really the only exception.
Also, the "Average age" thing with Indiana this past season is blown out of proportion in my opinion. They had 7 players from the '20 class with significant playing time, Auburn had 8 this past season. They had 4 guys from the '21 class with significant playing time, Auburn had 3 guys in that class.
To me, Cignetti is an elite evaluator. He emphasizes "production over potential" when evaluating players. Him and his staff are also great developers, and they are locked in for every game.
And to think, he was just lucky last year, no. He has an 80% win rate as HC in 15 seasons. He's 17-1 in the Big 10 over the last 2 years. He's a great coach, and Indiana well continue do great.

the one thing that worries me about AG (and is a huge difference between him & Cignetti) is the penalty numbers
IU was #2 in least penalty yards and #5 in fewest penalties last year, while USF was #104 and #87 in those respective categories
at least the Bulls performed better than AU on those stats (#115 and tied for #130)

That's a bit surprising to me considering Golesh expects discipline, or at least says he does.

You made some great points from the video. I watched him for many years since he coached Rivers. Still burns me up with Tubs wanting him as a tight end.
Agree that he is good at getting his coaches to develop players. Your right about his portal classes older not star laden.

I wonder if he would have worked here. I am torn on that evaluation. I think he would have had a much better record than Freeze but would he had the success that he has had at IU.

Yeah extremely disciplined team for Indiana. Cig’s JMU teams were very disciplined as well. And a valid concern for Golesh’s team. People can try to replicate what Cignetti has done, but I think he is in a league of his own.
I am hopeful of Golesh being the right guy. As was I for Harsin and Freeze. We shall see.
