OU fans, I got a question. Y 'all got your QB returning and the OC too, and got Parker Livingstone (still not happy). Your WR room is decent, and you finally have a true RB1, Tory. And a Brent Venables defense. Are you guys feeling confident or just wait and see for the upcoming 2026 season ? Genuinely just asking.

Very confident but it’s also a wait and see mindset. A win at Michigan and a TD against Texas, then I’ll be optimistic for a good season.

Confident, so a lot of room to be disappointed!

Pretty damn confident. Much improved at the posistiions that need improving. The linebacker from Michigan is a huge get as well. Also finally get a break in the schedule if you can call it that.

The offense is upgraded on paper, but it still has OC benarbuggle.

His QB serves as the primary rusher, as this held true with Mateer in his first year at OU and his last year at Wazzu. In back-to-back seasons, his QB led the team in rushing attempts and yardage. Not the running backs.

So, it doesn't really matter who the RB is. He isn't utilized very often. Nor is the tight end position. Some are hoping BV will, or already has, modified the offense to include a bigger role for asst. coach, Kevin Wilson.

I think Jason Witten is going to have some input on the offense as well.

I'm surprised Witten took that job with his son leaning to Texas.

Mateer needs to clean up his mechanics and they need to polish the offense to utilize all the offensive weapons we have on the team already and the guys that transferred in. Livingstone is a good grab from you all (OU recruited him put of HS btw), but we also snagged some other solid receivers and TE's. Wewill see. Our Defense is (scary to think about) probably going to be even tougher in 2026. Can't wait to see what happens!

Smothers started his college career at OU, I don't know why he bailed from OU, I think he was homesick and went back to NC. But y'all got a good one in Smothers.

Feel pretty good. Defense is built and now its just plug and play in BV’s system.

Offense is what held us back. Mateer will have to fix his mechanics. But he was great prior to injury so we know he can pass well.

Having Witten is a godsend and we got 3 TEs who are beefy enough to block yet nimble enough to run. Thats something we haven’t had for some time.

WRs look good. RB room is also improved and our true freshman got great experience.

And don’t discount Arbuckle having a full off season to get things sorted out and get more his style players in. Makes a huge difference as last year he cane in late and we missed out on some portals.

Special teams will be good again. Both kicker and punter coming back. Punter screwed up vs Bama but was great all year. Same with kicker his only misses were last game besides one in first game.

Defense travels. Also keeps you in games which will allow the offense to mesh for first few games. We also have some dudes coming in 26 class and a few could compete to start if as advertised.

Of seasons are too long. Only 7-8 months to go
