Looking at what LSU is doing in the portal and with high school recruits it's clear now we never had a chance to get Lane due to our NIL budget. We have a combined high school/NIL budget a little outside the top 10 but LSU is spending like crazy even with Lanes huge contract. We would have never spent that much as our big boosters arent as motivated. About 5 SEC teams will always outspend us and about another 4 or 5 teams will also.

The only thing I wonder is if LSU will be alright at O line or not. They bought 2 real expensive QBs in this portal class also.

Having said that I think our approach to the portal this year is a good approach with what our budget is and sometimes loading up like LSU doesn't work out as we saw last season.

LSU is going all in on the NIL era, to the point that I wouldn't be half surprised to see this whole thing end in LSU getting destroyed by a lawsuit or probation

But for now, yeah, they are killing it!

Time for me to play the powerball...I will get enough money to get us a 3rd string DB and a second string guard!

Knowing LSU, they probably opened up some day care centers in Minn.

One downside of a school becoming too "nerdy" due to entry requirements. I think up to maybe Urbans run we had close to the same level of big booster interest as Georgia and Bama etc. I think our new breed of tech rich big booster doesn't have a real big interest in football.

Sadly agree. We went the Vandy route.

As in the current students? It's been harder and harder to get into UF for decades now, but the enthusiasm from the students has never really waned. Student sections are packed for football and basketball every opportunity. That will only breed future contributions, from hopefully higher earners. Maybe one or 2 of them become a tech billionaire.

Also booster contributions have been at all time high. Fundraising is up. It's not all gloom and doom despite the recent football results.

Look at NIL etc our new breed of big boosters are not close to matching the money big boosters at about 5 other SEC schools are doing. That wouldn't have been the case 20 years ago. Overall money doesn't mean squat or Stanford would be dominating those things. I hope we don't finally drift off a cliff to be even closer to Vandy's model.

Money is being lined up, people are coming back on board. Weve pissed boosters off over and over again, it’s taking some convincing.

As far as future boosters, not talking about overall money so don’t agree with the Stanford comparison. Kids are not packing Stanford football stadium. They aren’t packing into the Rose Bowl for UCLA. They jam into the Swamp every Saturday. They still camp out for basketball games. We are pushing out future boosters with every graduating class. Haven’t seen anything to suggest that increased academic credentials is resulting in decreased enthusiasm for the Gators.

Disagree. Our spending compared to the really engaged SEC teams big boosters show it is not the same and I doubt it moves up in the pecking order much. I want to see a good estimate posted somewhere but I wouldn't be surprised if Ole Miss outspent us this cycle not even counting the 5 SEC teams that clearly outspend us on combined high school/NIL.

Like said before I do think we played things about as good as we could this time with our budget though.

I see that TT billionaire is saying Bama will drop out of the top spending teams as they don't have the big boosters willing to spend as much as the TX schools. I guess we will see over the coming years if that is true or not.

Same..but if they want to lower Academic Standards and their Alumni decide to put millions into the Football program it could. Same with Northwestern, Vandy, etc.

We’ll see. I will tell you I was in a room with Urban and some big boosters the other day. Meyer is helping a lot on this front. Getting people re-engaged.

There is plenty of room to grow on the money front. I don’t think all hope is lost, we can compete for titles in this climate.

That is good to hear. Honestly, Sumrall needs to be leading the charge with Urban and Steve vouching for him. Lane did it at Ole Miss. We need our coach to get aggressive with asking for money.

UF's fundraising overall is piss poor in my opinion. I went to a top liberal arts college for undergrad, and it is crazy to see them in action compared to UF when it comes to raising money. That school has 1,600 students and a $1 billion endowment. UF has 40,000 in undergrad and has a $1.6 billion dollar endowment. It's shocking.

I am a low level booster at UF with degrees from the law school and business school. Do you know how much they reach out to me? Never. No communication at all.

I donate a little every year to where I went to undergrad. I get constant phone calls from students letting me know what's going on at the school, handwritten letters from students, and they are in constant communication with me and ask my opinions about all sorts of things.

The difference is stark. It's like watching a Billy Napier offense compared to a Steve Spurrier offense.
