It's crazy what LSU is doing in the portal...

Looking at what LSU is doing in the portal and with high school recruits it's clear now we never had a chance to get Lane due to our NIL budget. We have a combined high school/NIL budget a little outside the top 10 but LSU is spending like crazy even with Lanes huge contract. We would have never spent that much as our big boosters arent as motivated. About 5 SEC teams will always outspend us and about another 4 or 5 teams will also.
The only thing I wonder is if LSU will be alright at O line or not. They bought 2 real expensive QBs in this portal class also.
Having said that I think our approach to the portal this year is a good approach with what our budget is and sometimes loading up like LSU doesn't work out as we saw last season.

LSU is going all in on the NIL era, to the point that I wouldn't be half surprised to see this whole thing end in LSU getting destroyed by a lawsuit or probation

One downside of a school becoming too "nerdy" due to entry requirements. I think up to maybe Urbans run we had close to the same level of big booster interest as Georgia and Bama etc. I think our new breed of tech rich big booster doesn't have a real big interest in football.
