Bama fans, I know y’all have booster money to compete… what’s the word on why they are keeping their checkbooks locked away? Do your boosters really hate Deboer so much?

People are just trolling, Alabama is fine.

We dropped 22 players to the transfer portal. 1 of those players was from DeBoers HS class. 2 of them were transfers that DeBoer brought in.

The 1 from HS class was a 3 star. I think he is probably a little too big for DeBoer and maybe they expected something else out of him, I'm not sure. He went to Vandy.

Horton chased cash, he wasn't worth more. Good player, but not game changing.

Not sure about Calhoun, but he didn't play much last year. Alabama is his 3rd team already. I don't think anyone is outbidding us or anything because he hasn't signed with anyone yet. With so many teams, seems like he's just looking to collect checks.

And all the other guys in the portal are just Saban guys who didn't have much production. Keon Keeley looked promising coming in for Overton, so that one hurt a little. He ended up at Notre Dame, which Alabama flipped him from as a recruit. Not sure how much money was involved there.

James Smith seemed decent when he subbed in, but he was a package deal. So not worth it.

The rest aren't much to write about losing that I've seen. Depth at best.

So he's keeping players that he's recruited for his scheme and getting rid of the dead weight is what I see.

I don't think overpaying a few transfer portal guys who are just chasing money is the way. I hope he finds guys who want to put in the work and develop, similar to what Indiana has done. If someone like that Hollywood RB wants to come here for a decent price, that's great. But if someone values him more, then it's best to let them part. Paying too much is more ego than common sense and brings complacency.

They want Deboer gone and to make a run at Cignetti.

You made the mistake of providing a concise, intelligent response.

That'll go over poorly here.

What specific production was lost in the portal that makes this a cope?

Bama has already brought in likely starters at LT, DT, WLB, C, K and P.

Bama lost starters at WR, RG and DT.

In addition the Saban era OL depth guys on the OL are basically gone because the OL was a disaster and the big slow guys we had don't fit the new blocking scheme. New guys are being brought in between HS recruiting and portal adds, we'll see how that works out but the baseline was obviously bad last year.
