Why did LSU release him?

huh? Is this an attempt at a troll, or do you not know how the portal works? Or am I missing something?

LSU probably had the worst OL in the conference.

I know exactly how the portal works. Coen Echols was already getting PT as a young OL with 3 years of eligibility left. Don't see how this was about lack of PT.

And per LSU posters they have massive NIL resources so I was genuinely curious as to why they evidently did not make him a strong arse offer to stay with the team.

Familiarize yourself with how last year Aggies retained an OL who entered the portal. Made him a strong arse offer.

Because he wasnt good and was requesting too much to stay.

Reports were all the Offensive linemen got their NILs reviewed and the new offers for 2026 were a lot lower then what they had in 2025. Cant blame em, considering the only decent offensive linemen from this year were Josh Thompson and Braelin Moore.

Got it. You meant to ask something like, “why didn’t LSU pony up to keep him?”

Elko is apparently evaluating him differently than Lane.

Just a guess, but we probably gave him a pay cut.

He was horrible last year.

Hard to really tell how much of our OLine issues was coaching and scheme though.

Very hard to believe all the guys we had were as bad as the product on the field.

We had an extremely predictable scheme with forced RPOS and limited route trees. Made the line look awful.

No, I do not think all those linemen are as bad as they looked. I think they received very bad coaching from Brad Davis, and Brian Kelly knew that, which is why he wanted to fire Brad Davis.

However, I saw way too many plays where linemen did not even make an attempt to block air. Multiple times in every single game I watched. That's a culture and attitude issue.

If we have to lose half of our depth to get a better attitude for the team as a whole, I'm good with that.

Can’t disagree with that.

Lane may not see him as a fit for what he wants. He was not good last year.

Scheme, coaching, talent, not sure which one it was, but didn’t work out here.

Wish him the best at A&M, except when y’all play us

I assume he didn't want to take a pay cut.
