Auburn connection to the Biffle plane crash

Assuming most, if not all, by now know about the plane crash in North Carolina yesterday that killed former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle and his family.
Among the others on the plane was the pilot's son - Jack Sutton - who was a junior at Auburn studying flight management.

Nothing yet.
NTSB press conference today said they recovered the cockpit voice recorder and were sending it off. Plane didn't have a flight data recorder (neither were mandatory for that plane flying that type of flight).. They expect a preliminary report in 30 days, full report in 18-24 months.
From early reports (people saying the plane didn't sound right, came in very low trying to get back to the airport) speculation is mechanical issues, potentially with an engine. Flight plan had it going from Statesville to Tampa and on to the Bahamas. Was probably fully loaded with fuel, and from takeoff to impact was 10 minutes or so; all of that avgas ignited upon impact.
Based on an aircraft accident a friend of the family had in the late 90s, I'm guessing there wasn't a lot left to recover.

Crash was about 11 miles from my house. Really sad. Biffle was a great guy. His helicopter rarely stopped with rescue flights and aid after the storms and floods here in the NC mountains.
