When they make these schedules, its years in advance....so when someone says ND plays a creampuff schedule....its stupid. They dont know what the teams will look like when the year comes around that they play them. Take for example....in 2029...Notre Dame already has Texas, Alabama, Florida State and Clemson on the schedule. When they made these scheduled games...all these teams were bad asses. Who knows what they will look like in 2029? And this goes for all college scheduling....its not like you go year to year....its many years out.

1. I'm one of the few on here that actually thinks you were the best of the three teams or at least you are the best of these teams in their current form.

2. Fact is your schedule hurt you and it should. It's not about whether you tried to put together a tough schedule. There is no category of "scheduling intention", so it doesn't really matter whether you tried or not. Your schedule was not good outside of A&M, Miami and USC and you went 1-2 in those games.

3. The SEC has been the strongest conference for years and will continue to be so from everything we've seen to date. The fans are into college football to the point of obsession. This includes big money boosters and those boosters will spend a higher pct. of their money than the boosters in the other conferences. Look at LSU. Not the richest, but they found someone willing to pay Kelly to get lost and turned right around and put Kiffin in the same pay tier as Kirby and Day without even a national title, conference title, or even a conference game appearance. Not saying it's smart, but it will be done. In other words, with the money being spent at all of these schools in the SEC, would be impossible not to have a strong schedule. A&M's schedule was weak by SEC standards and still out distanced yours by quite a bit.

4. Appears that commissioners and ADs are getting tired of you getting "special rules" and your AD still beeyotching about not getting more. You aren't an ACC football team. You shouldn't feel offended when the ACC commissioner is trying to get one of his football teams in the playoff. HIs best path to do that is to say his team deserves it over you guys because his team beat you straight up. If you want him to fight for you, join his conference fully.

5. The committee did a crappy job of ranking week to week, but their final ranking can be defended. Honestly, they could've left any one of the three (UA, ND, UM) out and defended it well. But if you're upset about what they did rivalry week and their explanation for it, I would agree. Should've had Bama above you guys after the OU loss by Bama. But their reasoning for reversing their decision was bull****.

6. IMO, we're throwing the G5s a huge bone by letting them in anyway. Your best argument is to just say having two G5s in is a waste and kills TV ratings, giving us a crap matchup. Having ND playing Ole Miss would've been fun.

You were judged on your hand picked schedule this year. You played 4 quality teams, and Navy. You lost lost to aTm & the U. Got by USC @ home & bested a decent Pitt team. In the end, inspired of your own niche agreement with the CFP committee, the head2head loss kept you out. Next year, your schedule is a joke..again..& no one knows where the USC game will be played yet. You will be judged by your results, and if your 11-1, with a loss to USC you can sit home again, and cry with your money from your NBC TV deal. After that ..the USC game is going away...like Michigan..who you stopped playing...better hope Purdue gets real good ..real fast...because the rest of the country is sick of you, and your brand. The playoffs will be just fine without you.

So what?

Apparently what you don't understand is if you play a cream puffs schedule, it's still a cream puffs schedule. It doesn't matter how many years ago you scheduled it and how good the teams were when you scheduled them.

You're evaluated by your strength of schedule this year. Not when you scheduled it.

Daowna- And your Aggie schedule was worse than Notre Dames yet youre in the playoffs and you silly Aggie fans think you have a chance. You played two good teams...ND and Texas....you beat ND by 1 point and got beat by 10 against Texas....you played creampuffs the rest of your schedule. ND played 4 ranked teams....you played two.

And here's another interesting fact...Miami is the only team in the playoffs that has two losses against unranked teams.

ESPN has A&M's schedule as 16th toughest and yours at 44, Bono.

The playoff will survive with or without you.

If you think A&M's schedule was #16 in the nation...then you really did get an education at Georgia. And Notre Dame is fine with our own TV network and the #2 recruiting class coming soon.....look out. We actually dont need you.

I don't make schedule power rankings. Do you?

Bill Connelly says that. He's pretty respected among analysts.

Schedule rankings

The truth is your independent crap is just that. You act like it's something that has made you unique all this time.

Truth: when you were in your heyday, plenty of other powers were independents as well: Miami, Penn St., FSU, Pitt teams in the 70's.

Since becoming the lone independent: 0 national titles.

I was very even handed in my response to you fella. As I said, I wouldn't have a gripe if they had selected you. But taking this "We don't need you all" path has gotten you left out. You're on here trying to argue your schedule when it has no merit. Your AD is out there saying you had one of the strongest ten game runs in college football history, which is completely laughable. One of my best friends, huge ND fan, even laughs at that comment.

You guys need to realize that you are not needed in the playoff. Join a conference or figure out some way to make people want to schedule you. Taking your bags of money instead of sharing is gonna hurt you in the long run. The conferences were stronger and pulled more weight than the Catholic college in the small town in Indiana. The ACC (weakest P4) ulitmately had more power than you did out there on your island.

IrishDave,
People understand that the OOC schedules are scheduled well in advance. You're posting on a sports forum that is overflowing with advanced college sports fans, and more than it's share of knuckleheads.

We understand, and you're preaching to the choir.

Good.

Then you ought to be able to win your games when you play someone and not crying because you didn't.

Bottom line: You lost and you couldn't afford to.

Win your games.

If they got left out, I'd say the same thing to them.

Again, your problem was Duke knocking VA out.

It came down to Notre Dame or the ACC being left out and the ACC won.

Pretty obvious Bama was always gonna be in. Should've been clear after they put them ahead of you after rivalry week.

Your arrogance of staying independent cost you this time. Will it next year? Probably not if you play a little better to open the season.

But opting out leaves you without valuable practice time now. So obviously you all are cutting of your nose to spite your face. Pout more.

Korean- and thats the problem...how corrupt it was....when they put Alabama ahead of ND going into the final week....the fix was in and that is fact. BYU lost their game in the conference title game and was knocked out of the playoffs....Ohio State lost in their conference title game and was knocked down to the 2 spot....Alabama gets crushed in the conference title game and the committee keeps them at the same spot.....what a fricking joke....
