(besides Georgia and Bama now being dominant).

2004, no playoffs!

Yes I was 14 at the time but our team was stacked and got screwed outta the national championship game. Alotta big time players in that game. Probably better than 2010 (except for Cam).

Our 2nd string running back was the #2 overall pick for the Dolphins, coached by Nick Saban.

Now there are playoffs, and we suck!

Wasn't it largely due to Auburn's weak schedule combined with a loss to USCw the previous year?

Schedule was far stronger than OUs that year. They just went wire to wire

Ummmm, seriously? you should love this. The lack of playoffs allowed Auburn at shamelessly claim this title.

I have no problem with saying Auburn deserved a chance, I'm just talking about why they were left out over others.

I mean the SEC was trying for the 4 team playoff for years after that and only the ACC would get on board. Until 2011 then suddenly the others wanted 4 team playoff.

You guys are sensitive.

You guys just claimed that as a title. If you had to play three playoff games that year, odds are you lose. Guess it worked out better for you the way it is.

2004 Auburn refused to play an AQ OCC. Can't really complain.

Nah we were unstoppable. Only a bullshite BCS system stopped us.

4 1st round draft picks, including Cadillac Williams, NFL Rookie of the Year.

Don’t make me post YouTube links.

Bowling Green dropped Auburn to play OU, and we picked up the Citadel at the last minute. This was the poll voters' excuse for saying Auburn beating LSU, UGA, and Tennessee (2X) was not enough to get in the top 2.

None needed. I really liked that Auburn team- so many awesome ambassadors to the school. Christ I’ve never thought about it like this but that was perhaps the only likable Auburn team in my lifetime, which is saying a lot considering they came so close. It’s easy to like rival teams who lose.

Bowling Green wasn't an AQ team. Hope this helps.
