I'm sure it won't happen but it sure seems like we should be the 2nd seed when the final rankings come out today. Our schedule is tougher than either big 10 team, we play in the toughest conference and our improvement at the end of the season is incredible.

The reason we likely wouldn't get the 2nd seed is bracket play, knocking out a big 10 team out earlier. They certainly want the SEC teams to eliminate one another early.

What case would the committee have to keep us at 3?

Because OSU never trailed all year in the 2nd half and lost to the #2 team on a neutral field by 3. That would be their argument.

It also gives them ammo to keep Bama in because they could slot Bama at 10, avoid a 3rd matchup with UGA possibly in round 2 and move on.

But if you use SoS/SoR all year as metrics but then don’t use them at the end to put UGA at 2, seems like the regular season is devalued.

Does our seed determine which bowl we get? Or are we Sugar no matter what at this point ?

Based on who’s above us and bowl affiliations, we would be in sugar regardless.

IU tie in to rose bowl.
OSU cotton due to proximity.
UGA tie in to sugar.

It truly should be based on who would you least likely want to play. JMU wouldn't scare Arkansas. They shouldn't be in. TX and Vandy would play better ball than ND or Canes. That is what matters, not oh great, a lesser conference had a good record. This isn't give a feel good entry ticket.

Granted i.dont know WTf the committee bases things on, but I would be absolutely floored if we aren't 2.

There's one insurmountable problem with the entire ranking system; not enough inter-conference play. That makes it very hard to compare schedules.

By the end of an 8 (or even moreso, 9) game conference schedule, you can come up some very useful data to compare SOS within a 16 team conference. But when teams play (at best) an average of 1 non-conference P4 game, and mostly within the first third of the season (rivalry weekend notwithstanding), that makes national SOS numbers unreliable, probably worthless, IMO.

I think we deserve moving up a spot to #2 after winning the SECCG in convincing fashion but OSU only lost by 3 points to the #2 ranked team so they will probably just flip Indiana and OSU and leave Georgia at #3 and Texas Tech at #4.

Fourth and fifth place teams don’t deserve to make playoffs.

Unreal nonsense. So they get blown out and don’t move?

I’d’ rather see a G5 champ than the #4 or #5 team of the SEC or Big 10. It’s the College Football Playoff, not the SEC/Big10 Challenge.

We are the two Super conferences, it's what they've created. Vandy/TX would destroy JMU and TX. Also, they made sure the 3 teams in the big 10 wouldn't play one another in early rounds.

We just need to get healthy, keep focus and run the table. Go Dawgs!
