I've always liked him. He has a lot of passion. He did a great job weathering the storms this year. Do you feel like he's truly the guy for the job?
My main knocks right now are offensive output and HS recruiting. You'll need Top 10 classes again

He needs to find his counterpart to coach the offense. Not sure if Arbuckle is the guy. Probably need a new TE coach and I'm not 100% sold on our WR Coach yet, but willing to give him another year recruiting.
He needs to take care of Bates, Hall, Chavis, Valai, Goodwin and Dreilling and keep them on staff. Our defense is only going to get scarier with this crew coaching the defense.
Our recruiting is OK. 2026 (depending on the service) ranks us 14th to 16th.
2027 Recruiting, we have the top class right now.

I've been anti-Venables from the day he was announced as HC but he is starting to win me over. He wasn't ready to be a HC, unfortunately had to learn some lessons the hard way, but I think he is starting to figure things out.
I'll be 100% on board with Venables if/when he cans this OC and his rinky-dink slow-developing RPO offense which probably worked great in the PAC-2, or convinces him to develop a pro-set offense. Either way, Venables really needs to clean house on that side of the ball.

Got hired the same time as Brian Kelly, Hugh Freeze, James Franklin(I think) and hes still here with another 10 win season. Im very happy not to have to win games 57-53 anymore.

Everything on the right track. Just need to fix the offense, mostly by getting a legitimate QB who can actually play the position.
As far as recruiting, we don't care about class rankings anymore. Our talent is all scouted and recommended by the front office personnel, regardless of how many stars they do or do not have.

Most real fans knew Venables was the real deal … the media was portraying if he didn’t win this many games the last two years he was gone … I knew 100 percent unless he finished under .500 he would be given another year this year . Our administration is pretty good about giving coaches time to succeed
He is everything you want in a coach …. Never satisfied . With our new GM and recruiting all focused on 2027, I think this will be OUs better recruiting cycles in a while , 2026 we had to stop recruiting half the class because the GM didnt like the athletes the current coaches had in mind .
The offense was gutted when Riley left . We had a big OL NFL draft class that several Juniors left early for and it really set our offense back last 2-3 years . We still don’t have the depth. OL won’t be a concern from here on out …. We have recruited well here last 3 years . It should start showing next year with not having 3 freshman starting . Qb is hurt … is this the best he’s going to be passing then OU won’t be competing next year for sec title . If he is then maybe . I still feel like we are 1-2 years away at TE and WR spots for the young players to grow . Arbuckle obviously isn’t running what he wants becuase we don’t have the pieces at TE to run his offense . I think that changes next year .

Clempson snagged 2 titles that wouldve been ours if bob Stoops hadn't promoted his shithead brother to "Co-defensive coordinator"....decisions like that is what kept Stoops from being a better coach.
