I think the Lagway situation will tell us how serious this new coach is...

How this Lagway situation is handled might show us how serious this new coach is.

With Lagways tape over 2 years showing he is literally about the worst interception machine in all of FBS football since becoming our starter any NIL that isn't true NIL tied to businesses needs to be cut. Anything coming from things like Victorious and tied to the boosters/schools themselves (business NIL dictated by the schools desire basically) need to be cut off as it's getting hardly any return. If he wants to stay at a vastly reduced NIL and compete then so be it. If he doesn't he can hit the road and try and show he isn't what everyone has seen with their own eyes. My guess if he ends up at a power 4 school he will probably have Nico like results when he left TN.

If the new coach doesn't get a lot of that NIL redistributed for proper returns then he isn't serious and is just kissing Lagways butt to not rock the boat.

Cade Bell had a freshman QB that looked pretty good that may be convinced to be a Gator

Yep that QB does look pretty good for a freshman.

Hopefully he can teach him...he was very highly rated for a reason, but had terrible coaching. Give him a coach that can show him how to read defenses, he will do better.

I trust the staff to play the best players.

They have no allegiance to Lagway and I gotta believe the new OC is not gonna have a QB out there that misses open targets consistently

Spring will tell. Lagway has the right to compete for the job but isn’t owed anything

My fear is we keep paying Lagway way too much and don't get a good QB that could take over and play good if needed. The new recruit will need a year on the bench, our backup might not be good SEC starting material and Lagway may never get good at reading a defense. Lagway doesn't have much portal leverage after how he has played. The coach needs to treat the situation as it is.

Arm str is not an issue at all
He is mobile

Just can't read the field at all..he had Billy as his OC, wtf did you expect? He had very bad coaching. In high school reading the field is much easier with good teammates.

Not sure what will happen with this situation if we get stuck with Lagway. I mean I will pray for a miracle turnaround but usually if QBs still are struggling reading things bad their 2nd year starting they are definitely limited. Our new OC did definitely adjust to what Haynes King was good at knowing he was a limited passer but unless some weight loss or something changes Lagway he doesnt seem to be able to run sideways worth a damn and is only decent running straight ahead sometimes. We do have some weapons at WR though if they dont bail on us. Maybe he can limit things for Lagway some where he can at least cut down on the interceptions big time. Crazy we have this issue with a QB that got that much NIL. Just like with Richardson we fell in love with what we thought the potential was too soon (fans included) before seeing him having to be competent reading the field. Its nuts when they show Lagway's numbers just taking out the FCS opponent win over Samford in 2024.

Yes. Let someone else take the chance on him. He hasn't shown enough to justify nearly what we were giving him. If they want to give him crazy money they can take the big risk.
