I hope someone else noticed just now in the UT-Arky game…

Arky punter punts from his own 15. Ball lands 2 feet out of bounds on about the UT 42/43 yd line. But the ref marks the ball on the Arky 36. How in the hell can the ref run 20 yards upfield to mark the spot?

The bigger indictment is the announcers briefly noticing but then moving on like nothing happened.

Did the ball initially hit out of bounds?

If so, then the ball is out where it crossed, not where it hit.

If it hit then went out of bounds, then that's a terrible spot.
