Expert Panel

quote:

This was easily Georgia’s best and most complete game this season - looks like we are peaking at the right time: I’m feeling more confident about the playoffs than I have all year

Dropped endzone passes to wide receivers that were wide open, 2 missed chip shot field goals, tipped passes into the hands of defenders, for 30 minutes everything that could go wrong did. Then it changed, defense didn’t allow a point and lived with their arms around Sellers, Offense looked like the 1993 Cowboys

I couldn't be happier for Frank Wilson getting a 1 point victory over the Hogs. Frank may be the one person I am ok with say loves LSU more than me.

Not gonna lie, this Kentucky team is a little scary right now. Just find a way to beat the Cats, and let tomorrow worry about itself.

Pain

Lots of mistakes by coaches and players. Found a way to move to 10-1 and not let Kiffin rumors affect focus. Lots of Kiffin drama across social media by a lot of people that no nothing. Entertainment ahead no doubt. Finish with “home game” in Egg Bowl.

Tale of two halves. I choose to focus on the outstanding second half as more indicative of the team’s upside.

like crap in the first half, like champions in the second

I said it last week and it deserves to be said again. This 2025 Georgia football team is going to be a problem for the playoff field. This is a power ranking right? This team is #1 right now.

defense was great. Offense sucked again but hey, we ran it well on the worst run defense in the world! Special teams blows. W. Geaux Tigers.

Beat the hell out of Texas and Sark. It's becoming a tradition.

Couldn’t tell you the last time Mississippi State wore that logo on its helmet.

ETA: same for Vandy and mizzou

I'm curious what people think power rankings are, because those look more like season rankings than power rankings.

I would flip flop UGA and A&M...I think UGA is making it to the playoff championship game.

You’re the one that’s confused

You got beat like a drum by Oklahoma just days ago and you put Alabama above them in your power ranking

Since it is a power ranking, I agree Georgia should be in first place then old Miss then maybe Aggie

And the graphics and music is really adding an excellent flare to these

You just need better experts, put me in coach!! Seriously someone with my knowledge and wisdom should be on this so-called expert panel instead of a bunch of LSU homers!

I just don’t think people pay that much attention when they’re ranking the bottom half teams

So basically you don't know the difference between season rankings and power rankings as I figured.

Alabama is still ahead of Oklahoma in FEI and F+. It's much higher in FPI if that's your thing.

If the game was played again this weekend, the spread would likely be even larger in favor of Alabama.

Season rankings though, it would make sense to rank Oklahoma ahead of Alabama. In fact, the so called "power rankings" listed here are exactly what my season rankings would be as far as the top 5.

The only team above Alabama in power ranking metrics is Georgia. A&M is below both of them.

Actual wins and losses matter in power rankings

Recent wins and losses matter more than any other wins and losses

And you just got your butt kicked by Oklahoma

They should be above you and the power ranking

And pretty much anybody with a brain, put them there

You seem delusional on practically every ranking metric that everyone follows and instead come up with your own bizarre definitions which...*GASP* somehow always lead to Alabama being ranked at/near the top.

No one is buying your bullshite.

No they don't. In fact when I did power rankings stats I didn't include wins and losses at all.

Actual wins and losses matter in season rankings.

In terms of power rankings, Alabama dominated Oklahoma. As I said, if the game was to be played again this weekend the starting spread would likely be even larger than it was last time.

But in season rankings, this matters and Oklahoma should be ranked ahead of Alabama.

They should be above you and the power ranking

There isn't a single power ranking metric that has a different order than this:

1. Georgia
2. Alabama
3. Texas A&M

The next 2 swap, but 2 out of 3 have Ole Miss 4th.

4. Ole Miss
5. Oklahoma

quote:

And pretty much anybody with a brain, put them there

Vegas uses these kinds of stats, and I can tell you right now "wins and losses" are NOT directly used at all. What matters is how well you move the ball and how well you prevent the other team from doing so. And then there are things like how many yards you normally need to score(aka starting field positions, etc) vs the other team and so on to come up with predicted scores, spreads and over/under. Many many stats and ways to compare the numbers, wins and losses not included.

Season rankings again though, wins and losses are very important. The power rating changes from the above to:

1. Texas A&M
2. Georgia
3. Ole Miss
4. Oklahoma
5. Alabama

You can argue these things all you want, but I'm just telling you how it's actually done. I know these things because I use to do them.

You are correct. These "power rankings" make whoever put them together look like a clown.

The funny thing is the power rankings I posted were just the list from F+. FEI and FPI also have the same power rankings.

They are advanced opponent adjusted stats. Power rankings, not season rankings.

And I've never once ranked Alabama #1 in the power rankings this year. I've had Georgia #1 week after week even though Alabama beat them. When everyone else was sucking off Alabama I still had Alabama #2.

Power rankings aren’t just statistics though

You’re trying to just purposely choose to leave off the part of the power ranking that does include recent losses and wins, and only includes statistics

Sorry buddy, a recent loss affects your power ranking

I would think A&M fans at least would pay attention to their former coach's new team.
