Nick Saban, Lane Kiffin, Dan Mullen, Hugh Freeze, etc..
You never really heard any of these coaches explicitly turn down other jobs in the media if I recall correctly. Didn’t even Saban flirt with Texas during his time at Alabama? I’d be willing to bet that in order to work with Jimmy you have to give him verbal affirmation or maybe even contractual that you will not explicitly turn down jobs in public. This is part of his puppet mastery.
Also thought it was good timing to recirculate this

Sexton likes to shake the sugar tree for extra dollars for sure.
I was hopeful that after A&M and LSU's dumb contracts to Jimbo and Kelly were on full display other universities would shy away from backing up the armored cars. Not so sure that's happening though.
We just extended Elko, and while I think strategically it's smart, I hope that extension is still heavily induced off of accomplishments rather than flat rates.

From what I’ve read A&M structured the deal to be largely based on incentives rather that just failing arse-backwards into 8 figures

Sexton doesn't just represent the Coach, he is the agent for the assistance coaches at every level of coaching.
He has the greatest power in actually pulling together a complete coaching package that includes the HC and assistants.

Could not agree more. I don’t necessarily disagree with what he’s doing as a broker.. I’m in a similar line of work. The difference is it doesn’t seem like he’s doing what’s in the best interest of all involved parties.

Until fanbases are emotionally and mentally able to deal with losing seasons, the money trucks will keep backing up

i keep wondering which bottom will fall out first, college football coaching carousel or the big government spending spree. those money machines cant keep up much longer

No he's not. Sexton is good at extracting everything he can for his clients. Even if Kiffin stays, he has to do the dog and pony show so that Sexton's future clients do not lose any leverage. For all we know, Sexton personally paid for Kiffin's family to fly everywhere so he can test the waters of the money and offers out there for all his clients.
So if UF or LSU doesn't get Kiffin, Sexton will leverage that info of contract details for the coach they may go after. It's all about getting the most info and know where the bar is.
What's wrong with college football is and will always be boosters who will agree to pay anything and everything. It use to be rogue boosters. Now it's boosters with NIL or it's boosters willing to pay buyouts or it's one who's willing to state that Texas Tech will have 55 million a year for athletes with their collective.

Yes and no. Base salary of $7 million with incentives that could make it up to $11 million. However, there is a 75% buyout, and an additional year added for achieving certain incentives.
When will AD's have the balls to either reduce the university's buyout or make the coach's buyout match it?

What jimmy Sexton does is toy with your emotions. He's not doing anything other than what a headhunter would do for you in your field of work. If the boosters weren't willing to pony up, it wouldn't be a factor.

I get it. I don’t disagree with you. But most professional industries are regulated to some degree. College football is far from a regulated/perfect market. There are a handful of boosters out there with endless monies, that are mucking the system up with zero regard to ROI. No business functions like this. Jimmy is taking advantage of this for selfish reasons. Did Jimmy do what was best for Dan’s career when he brokered him away from us? Will leaving Ole Miss be in the best interest in for Lane down the road? I don’t know.. I’d be willing to bet it wouldn’t. Like I said initially, I don’t disagree with you, but I don’t believe this is an efficient market
