1. Incredibly tough loss but give OU's defense credit. They made some plays when they absolutely had to. The turnovers were back breaking.
2. Ty-He's still a really good QB but he missed some guys today. Still, passing for over 300 yds in a game is usually enough. I think he's really banged up/hurt and it's affecting his judgement and throws. He doesn't trust the O line and assumes he's going to get killed on every pass play.
Some people will say, "Well, that's part of the game.". Yes, it is but how many on this board would willingly stand in the pocket and know you're going to get leveled over and over by some 300 lb dude? He simply doesn't trust his O line and to a large extent, that mistrust is warranted.
He does hold on to the ball too long at times but I think part of that is he feels he has to carry the team by himself.
3. O line blocking was erratic. The left side of the line is absolutely terrible and that includes Michael Carroll. The RBs whiffed on way too many blocks out there too. Honestly, at this point, there's not much that can be done other than maybe line a TE at all times next to Formby/Carroll to help them.
4. Defense played their asses off yesterday despite the offense putting them in bad positions a number of times. Holding an opponent to right at 200 yards offense should win you 99 per cent of your games.
5. Connor Talty is terrible and should never play another game for Bama. Yes, the snap was a bit high but at that range, a high school kicker would still make that attempt at that range. Any kicker who is completely and totally unreliable for any kicks over 40 yards has no business playing Division I football.
6. The inability to pick up tough yards showed yesterday. We are simply NOT a physical team. Coach Bryant used to say if you can't consistently pick up one yard, you deserve to lose. The thing is, with this offenisve line, we're kind of stuck with them and the poor coaching this late in the season. Not a lot can be done. It's like expecting a 1978 Ford Pinto with 300,000 miles on it to compete in the Indy 500.
After the season, I hope Chris Kapilovic is cut loose and we find 5 guys who are quicker and will give 100 per cent at all times.
7. On to Eastern Illinois. If Ty is as beat up as I suspect he is, I hope he either doesn't play at all or just most of the first half. He needs to heal up. No sense him taking more shots for a nobody game.

He needs to be because his unit is an utter failure. I suspect he won’t be cut loose, though.

The 20 year old me would gladly do it for $850K a year plus other NIL funds.

If he knows he’s going to get hit and knows he needs to win the game with his arm because we have zero running game, get the ball out of your hands asap! Right? I hate to say it but I think there is some fear or something there.

Or maybe like others have said, he’s injured to the point it is significantly affecting his performance. If so, where the heck is Keon?!

I remember the first time I saw Ty Simpson play football was in the A game his first year. After his first drive, I thought to myself, "this kid is too tentative and holds the ball too long when receivers are open."
He's STILL making those same mistakes.Yesterday was just a bad day for Ty despite all the yards he threw for. Lots of bad decisions.
3 turnovers will get you beat against most anyone you play, especially in the SEC.
Our OL is the worst since 2007. It really is that bad. It's like you said in your post; if you cannot gain a yard you deserive to lose. We had to run a trick play to gain 3 yards FFS.They just cannot move anyone off of the ball.
I blame some of the lack of running game production on the RBs as well. They just aren't hitting the hole hard There was one play yesterday where Hill bounced it to the right side with one guy to beat and he actually took a stutter step allowing the defender to make a sound tackle. WTF is a 240lb running back doing taking a stutter step? Lower your fricking shoulder and run over the dude! I was always taught "you can deliver the lick or take the lick," it's up to you.
Defenses have solved the Ryan Williams puzzle. He just doesn't like to be hit. Hit him at the line and it throws his whole route off.
Like the OP said, this just isn't a physical football team and it shows.

When the staff was getting built, I remember when Kapilovic was hired thinking that his resume did not indicate he'd ever had a really great OL. In fact, you can go look at his resume on the AD's official website and it is clear as day. His accolades are essentially produced some all-conference honorable mentions and had a couple top 40 unit in sacks/game.
So many of the other assistants and coordinators were successful G6 head coaches or fairly reputable assistants. Kapilovic was always a bit of the ugly duckling in that respect and it has played out like that on the field.
Robert Gillespie, the RB coach, has not impressed me a ton at Alabama but his resume suggests that he may be getting kneecapped by our bad OL play as a program since the 2021 season

I think people are jumping to conclusions on him being injured. Has code said anything? Were just looking for excuses for his bad play.
Seems we would design short yardage plays or roll him out to get the ball out of his hands and so he's not standing back there like a statue waiting to get hit.
Our play caller is suspect. Reid would have a te or receiver go 5 yards out and sit in the open area for an easy 5 yard completion.
