so I don’t know if everyone has seen the news but John Bell from Widespread Panic will be singing the national anthem at the Texas game. And Class Trip the same company that put out the Grateful Ducks merch is doing a release today Friday at 11 ET. I think the merch looks really good but I’m a fan of both so it’s a perfect mashup for me. What do you guys think?

That does look pretty good. Was at UGA in the early 90s and saw them quite a bit. I may just have to get a shirt.
Edit: Saw that he was singing there on the DeLoach UGA Report he sends out. Wish I could be there for that.

Wish I liked panic but never got into them. Don't like the lead singers voice. They are missing an "it" factor that Jerry brought to GD, which makes sense.
The Oregon/Dead collab was insanely cool. They also benefit from having awesome logos

You definitely didn’t get it if you think JB is their weakness.

No they’re great imo but it’s cool if you don’t like them. Still hard to argue that live music is great and seeing them live is top notch. Try to catch them live if you haven’t but you’re running out of time. Lol

We'll be at the game so I'll let you know Sunday afternoon after I get back home how good a job he did.

I’m going to be pissed if they don’t show it on TV though!

Was at a show at the classic center years back and got kicked out for smoking cigs inside before they played the first song.
I'm sure the energy of the live shows ramps it up a bit. I was actually buddies with the Housers son in college. Cool guy.

They showed Dolly Parton during the Tennessee game when we played them a few seasons back

That is awesome his dad is a legend. When he was playing with the band they were on another level. The music is still great imo but there were some years after his death they were trying to find themselves

When I started at UGA in '90 Panic was really starting to get big and would play 2 nights at the Georgia Theater. I'm sure a lot of people remember Super Jam and they played the one in 92. I didn't go but it was kind of a legendary music fest. Personally I liked Allgood better in terms of southern rock/jam bands. I thought Allgood was a lot tighter live. I lived out in Colorado in 95 and Panic was just as big in Boulder and with the hippie crowd out there.

Well, Dolly is a bigger star. But I've never any UGA games where the Anthem was being sung. Well, I take that back, if you can find the live feed that has no commercials it shows it all - even the field during timeouts, etc.

What a time to be alive too young for all that. Even typing that sounds stupid because I’m not young by any means anymore.

I think with the success of the Grateful Duck night in Oregon I could see them showing the anthem on the broadcast just for the publicity of it all. I’m not really going to be pissed I’m sure I’ll find a clip of it online. But if you want to wager whether it’ll be showed or not I’m down

I’ve been seeing them live since 1996, most recently, Halloween 2 weeks ago in Savannah. Their peak was 99-01. This new version is fun and nostalgic but not even close to what they were. I am very excited for Saturday. It likely won’t be in tv but it will be available shortly after online I’m sure.

Last time I saw them live was New Years in Nashville at the exact same time Ohio State missed the FG in the Peach Bowl. And they played Sandbox it was a great show
