Ga Tech left the SEC in 1964 and Tulane left in 1966. I know few of you were alive then, but how do you think these schools would have fared since the 60's if they were in the conference all this time? Are their academics too elite to compete (like Vandy) or would they have been able to win a few SEC titles?
It would be very interesting to see what they could do with NIL if they were able to lower their academic standards to the conference average.
I will say UGA and LSU both lucked out having no in-state competition in football, so I am sure neither of you are crying about it.

Another Barner showing her jealous arse. The Barn would have a losing record to both GT and Tulane if they were in-state rivals.

this means nothing today. Teams poach our state like no other. and I'd argue having an additional P4 game is worse, even though it is GT. Bama counts as one of your 9 SEC games. Tech does not

Tulane would have been very similar to Vandy. They were not emphasizing football like their SEC brethren in the 50's and 60's so it was the right move to leave. The school is just culturally a lot different than what we think of as an SEC football powerhouse nowadays. But the new NIL landscape gives them a chance as a mid-major as they have plenty of wealthy alumni.

And the Barn has a losing record to Vandy.

GT’s woes in football over the years are not due to leaving the SEC.

GT has a shared title in 1990, so I think that year they would have competed. That said, their administration doesn't seem to care that much about football, so I think AS A WHOLE, they would have struggled in the SEC. Them being in Georgia, they would have had access to some pretty good talent, and being in the SEC would have helped their recruiting.
