Why does it feel like we have our pick of coaches above LSU and Florida?

Well until recently, LSU didn't have a AD or President. (think they just got an AD)

UF has a little turmoil going on according to local reports here in FL. Also, we have shown that we have supported our coach. UF President was pushed out but his story was that he resigned to take care of his wife.
They have an interim. So their place isn't that stable as well.

Your insanely highly paid, failure of a football coach tends to put a whole administration on the rocks. That’s part of the issue at LSU and UF, though it’s not all of it. We’re not too far off of that either, though.

If alignment and stability between the football program and the university president are important, those places haven’t figured it out recently either

I think each job comes with it own set of circumstances and I’m sure they’re not as neat of comparisons as they may seem on paper

Tell me how we haven't supported Freeze here?

Wanted to keep Durkin? Yeah NP. Highest paid coordinator
Need 1.6 ish for JA? Yep got it.
Need 800k for another QB yep...
I mean we spent what 25 mil this year. A lot last year...& even in his first year we had people stepping up to NIL.

We paid out contracts on his firings post 1st year even though he didn't allow Roberts to blitz on the 4th & 31. SOOOO...where did we fail him? Oh, forgot...they kept a T time open for him on Every Sunday....so yeah...I guess we didn't support him. Look I don't feel bad for people who had 3 years making many millions of dollars to do their job & perform somewhat. But the guy couldn't break 500. That is on him not on us fans or admin. I mean they were going to keep him until UK loss...You can't keep a coach who looses the team. Oh and then we are paying what 15.9 mil to go away...Yeah we didn't support him...

I misunderstood your point. Historically, Auburn has done a lot to not support its football coach. But they did give Hugh a ton of support.

Importance of geographic location for recruiting has been diminished.

Coaches know how great the environment at Jordan-Hare is as they saw Malzahn's patch work offenses beat Saban.

Baton Rogue is a terrible place to live.

Florida might as well be an ivy league school now, and as such the enthusiasm for football, among certain groups, has lessened over 1980 -2010.

Auburn is a much nicer town than Baton Rouge.
