Would you say over the course of the season this team has trended up, down, or held steady

I guess a 4th option is schizophrenic. Thoughts????

Offense steady incline as Gunner has gotten more comfortable and oline settled into a consistent lineup.

Defense. Unchanged, which is concerning because this would be the second year in a row where the unit doesn't really improve over the course of the year.

You, along with a core group of about 5 other dorks, are waiting for us to lose again so you can have a I-told-you-so takeover on this board like you did after the Alabama game, get it.

The offense is getting better. Having an intact O line has been helpful.

The secondary is a riddle wrapped in a mystery.

CJ Allen is a machine. FU's second to last drive ended in downs solely because of him. He stopped Lagway's QB run at 8 yards when anyone else would have let him fall down for 10 and a first down.

Gunner is sensing the pass rush better and getting way more comfortable in the pocket. He hit backwards spin mode two different times against Florida when they had a guy coming from his blind side. Both of them would have been Carson Beck sacks and possible sack/fumbles.

Yet that was a stetson like play. Kept his eyes down field too and turned a big negative into a successful play

I'd say held steady. We've essentially been the exact same all year:

-shoddy defense in the first half, tighten up at halftime
-excellent 2nd half defensive adjustments
-offense *generally* slow to get started but will find points when needed
-will come up with a big play or two in the 4th Q to find a way to win
-ST has generally been very good.

Kentucky is putrid and the only SEC game we've been comfortable in for most of the game. The other 5 SEC games we've played have not been decided until the very end of the game, with 4 of those 5 being 1 possession finals.

Knowing all that, I would expect us to be in for a fight this Saturday against an overmatched-on-paper opponent before pulling it out, and games against UT and gt will probably both not be decided well into the 4th.

gotta be honest, I much prefer the 21/22 versions where the 2nd halfs were mostly for getting the backups reps.

Given the choice of answering a valid question you and others chose to attack and insult. I can't imagine how little integrity, character and self-worth one has to lack in order to do that, but there it is, plain as day: oblivious to the fact that doing so says more about you than anything you spew toward other posters.

The offense has improved from the start of the season, although their performance against the gators was a bit lacking. The defense has not improved since the start of the season. There's talent all over the place but, the LOS, both on offense and defense is probably the weakest positions on this team. Depth, injuries, and inexperience are a huge part of the problem.

There is a core group of like 3 of you that think Bobo and Richt should still be on the coaching staff, which is laughable.

Also, aren't you the one that said you can't bet against your team to make money? You should sit out more threads than you do, but here you are...

He is a lame Richt apologist who says "but but 10 wins per season, but why??"

Offense upward trajectory.
Defense was lights out playing against rent a wins.
I think they have improved a little in the last two games. At least they got off the field on third down in Jax

We should be playing the backups in the first half then use the fresh starters for our second half heroics comebacks

The secondary's issues revolve around the fact that we're getting very little pressure on QBs, which is a mystery in itself. Oklahoma sacked Auburn QBs 9 times while UGA only had 1. Dawgs are dead last in the SEC with only 8 sacks. The next lowest is Arkansas with 16. This is the biggest head scratcher in Kirby's tenure, IMO.

Yep. That is huge. I can't remember ever having fewer sacks. I know Kirby has always defended the idea of pressuring the qb as opposed to sacks, but we haven't even been effective at pressuring with blitzes. To these untrained eyes it appears we have 2 blitz calls and they never work.

Under Kirby, we've averaged around 2 sacks a game.

1) We don't have near the talent on the DL we're used to. I won't even mention the absolute video game level of riches we had in 2021. Jalen Carter in 2022 could take over by himself. But even in 2023 and 2024 we had guys like Mykell, TID, Stackhouse, and Brinson that could do some things. We sipmly don't have a soul on teh DL this year that's anything better than "ehhh he's...ok. I guess"

2) We're used to having hellacious OLBs that could come off the edge and get pressure. This year we do not. To go a bit further, it seems liek our blitzes aren't exotic in any way. We simply bring CJ or Raylen straight up the middle.
